Satch boogies
This is a superb DVD that captures perfectly Satriani at his live best.
A huge influence to so many and able to constantly surprise here he is in top form. Many of his best tunes are represented and rather than just trudge through them in a note for note copy many are subtly transformed and seem fresh and new, the excellent bluesy reworking of 'cool #9' is a fine example of this.
The backing band are all giving their best and a bass solo from Stu Hamm morphs into something astounding.
There's no visual pyrotechnics here, just the stage, the band and an appreciative audience.
The picture is sharp and for guitar technique afficianado's the camerawork offers a good look at the maestro blazing away as well as a few multi-angle options on certain tracks.
Sound is top notch with a clear and vibrant 5.1 mix that has a well balanced subwoofer track.
There are 1 or 2 okay extras but really it's the concert thats the draw here.
If you're a Satch fan then this is essential, if you're a fan of music and are curious then don't hesitate, this is one of the worlds greatest guitarists at full throttle. Worth every penny.

This is the NTSC version
This is a great DVD if you like Joe Satriani. If you've been to the tour this May to August 2008, this is a DVD you'll love. You'll still need the latest CD for the new songs, but this DVD captures the feel of the lastest tour this year (2008) and has the great bass player Stuart Hamm doing a solo as well.

As good as it gets for a rock videos and a lesson to everyone else on how to produce a live rock DVD.
