Tag Team War With Three Belts On The Line!5
The main event of WWF Backlash 2001, held on April 29th 2001 at the AllState Arena in Chicago, witnessed only the second ever PPV Tag Team match with three titles on the line, as the WWF Tag Team Champions, Kane and The Undertaker took on the WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin and the WWF Intercontinental Champion Triple H. If Austin and HHH got the win, they would be Tag Team champs, whilst, for example, if UT pinned Austin, then he'd be WWF Champion as well as Tag Team champion, whilst Kane wouldn't win an extra belt. Although not the best PPV main event you'll ever see nor the most popular, there are interesting twists along the way.

Backlash also saw the second of four consecutive PPV encounters between Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. This one was the Ultimate Submission Iron Man Match in which the wrestler with the most submissions gained in half an hour would be the winner. Benoit has his Crossface, Angle has the AngleLock, which move proved to be the most effective over 30 minutes?

The owner of WCW Shane McMahon also had a big score to settle at Backlash as he went up against The Big Show in a Last Man Standing match, after Show turned on him by staying with the WWF instead of going to WCW. This match features another crazy stunt by Shane-O-Mac, buy this DVD if you wanna see what he pulls off!

Also on this DVD, you'll see the rather dodgy Duchess Of Queensbury Rules Match (they actually have a "Duchess Of Queensbury" there) between Chris Jericho and the commissioner William Regal. Watch as the rules get made up as they go along! Although the match is utter tosh, you have to watch it just to see Regal's facial expressions.

The other matches at Backlash saw Rhyno defend his WWF Hardcore title against former champion Raven, all three Dudley Boyz going up against X-Factor and Matt Hardy defending his WWF European title in a Three Way Dance with Eddie Guerrero and Christian.

A very good PPV but not of the standard of Wrestlemania 174
I expected Backlash to be an amazing PPV and it lived up to my expectations in a lot of ways but because it followed the best WWF PPV of all time (Wrestlemania 17) people were quick to critisise it. The main event at Backlash was the amazing match between the powertrip (Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H) and The American Badd @$$ the Undertaker and his brother Kane. At this point in time Stone Cold Steve Austin was the WWF Champion, Triple H was the WWF Intercotinental Champion and the Undertaker and Kane were the WWF Tag Team Champions. The rules were: only one pinfall in the match, whoever pinned whoever would the title of the person which he pinned. This was my favourite match of the night closely followed by the Duchess of Queensbury rules which pitted Chris Jericho against William Regal. Overall this was a very good PPV.
