Amazon.co.uk Review
Combining first and third-person shooter action with the cerebral story-telling of the likes of Deus Ex, Project Eden is a deep and entertaining sci-fi romp for the PlayStation 2. Set on a future Earth crippled by overcrowding, the mood is dark and seamy. The game is seen through the eyes of a four-person police squad whose aim is to keep everything running smoothly and in an orderly fashion. Happily for us this is far from the case and the plot develops confidently through a serious of twists and turns to reveal a conspiracy which threatens the world (for a change).
The beauty of Project Eden comes from the fact that the team members must be used in conjunction with one another to defeat the challenging in-game puzzles. It's simply not possible to blunder through the game on a Doom-esque rampage, murdering everything in sight. Much more finesse is required to overcome the obstacles in your path and a degree of patience and lateral thinking help immeasurably for some of the tricky situations you'll find yourself dumped in.
If there's one complaint about what is otherwise a great game, it's the control system. Getting to grips with character and camera movement is a tricky business and can be more than a little confusing. Stick with it, however, and what you have is a great action-adventure escapade. --Chris Russell

Substance over style
Project Eden is not the prettiest game to look at it must be said. Not only that but the controls are often awry and the camera angles dubious. So why the 5 stars?
Put simply, Project Eden is one of the most engrossing, engaging and above all satisfying games I have ever played. The gameplay is a mixture of action, but with more of an emphasis on teamworking and puzzle solving. Each member of your 4 man team has a different talent which must be utilised in order achieve your goals. At times some of these puzzles can have you tearing your hair out, but application of logical and lateral thinking will soon get you through.
Where Project Eden really excels however, is in it's story/plot. Though little is reavealed when you first begin the game, you are quickly sucked deeper and deeper into a tense and compelling plotline that will urge you onwards in your endevours, eagre to find out more.
So ignore the initial glitches and appearence of the game - stick with it, and you will be rewarded with one of the most under-rated games around.
Project Eden
A GRITTY ENGROSSING ACTION ADVENTURE!
I know this game is a couple of years old now but being somebody who buys games once they're out of the top 10 means that I'm always the last to know. But an up-to-date review is something that I always look for on Amazon so here goes...
Anybody who is thinking about buying this either used or on offer will not go far wrong with this solid, engrossing game. On the plus side I would say that you will have hours and hours of enjoyable playtime with a large number of puzzles requiring team effort or an individual task. I found myself stumped quite a few times so I was often playing into the early hours on more than one occasion! The overall arc-story is pretty awesome with plenty to do and see, this I think is the addiction of this rough diamond.
On the minus side; the controls can be a little over-sensitive at times leading to some pointless deaths, the graphics are Tomb Raideresque (to be expected), I feel there should be a one player option because keeping the characters together, fully recharged and at full power can detract from the overall feel of continuity and realism.
These negative aspects lose a star but should not dissuade you from giving it a go - so hunt through the used box or sale stock and get real value for money!
No hype, but plenty of good gameplay!
This understated, underhyped game offers plenty of brainchallenging puzzles. It's a mix of ICO and MGS2, but the puzzles make more sense, they are logic... At first, the graphics seem less impressive than aforementioned games, but as you get further into the game, you learn to appreciate the levelbuilding more and more.
