CD Description
First Western release by madcap Japanese act who have been at it for ten years in their home country. Mashing up speed metal, techno, punk, hip-hop, jazz and 60s-style pop, their genre-bending style has been likened to a much heavier ver- sion of the Prodigy or Atari Teenage Riot.

MCM are going to take over the world!
OSC-DIS (Oscillator in Distortion) is a must buy for anyone who likes metal, techno or punk! This album combines punk riffs with sampling overlayed and what a hybrid this has turned out to be! For me, the stand out tracks have to be 'Tribe', 'All The Time In Sunny Beach', 'Island' and 'Midi Surf'. You might have heard this million times but the chorus in 'Midi Surf' is mindblowing! Don't let the japanese lyrics put you off OSC-DIS. This album wouldn't sound right if it was all english! This album deserves 5 stars if more! I have had the great fortune of seeing The Mad Capsule Markets and they are absolutely incredible live then as well. These three guys from Japan are going to take over the world and bring the likes of Nickelback, Sum 41, Blink 182 and Alien Ant Farm to their graves. Give them the respect they deserve people!!
Completely Brillant
What can I say about this album.. other than to say its truly great. Some of the best metal I've heard in a long time, with the techno edge of Atari Teenage Riot but without the lack of melody and structure that ATR sometimes slip into. Like Pitchshifter only with TMCM every song on the album sounds fresh and individual. Like the Beach Boys or the Monkeys gone metal in All the Time in Sunny Beach and Island.
This sounds so much fresher than any "nu-metal" and is really the direction New Metal should be going in, if its not all going to become posturing and image like so many recent metal bands have resorted to. These guys deserve so much more success than many of their unmentionable US counterparts, who peddle an homogenised sound that does nothing to help progress its genre.
To use a common phrase, do yourself a favour and buy this album, its mindblowingly refreshing to hear after being subjected to the genre saturation of the music that has been dubbed nu-metal. I can only hope that they plan to tour the UK soon.
Very, Very Japanese.
Even if you took all the singing away, this is an obviously Japanese band. Very few places manage to spawn a sound so steeped in techno power yet combined with bubble gum pop mentality. This album is the bands 9th release so far, as they are unsurprisingly huge in Japan. Every song is unique with a whole different host of hooks pulling you in, forcing you to press the repeat button and just listen in amazment.
Opener "Tribe" is a good indicator of the mayhem to come, a dance beat, a thumping distored bass and chanting singing in Japanese. From there on it's all over the place! "Pulse" believe it or not is sung in English, and is one hell of a catchy song regardless of the powerhouse riff behind it. "Multiplies" is probably the best, perhaps a Japanese Slayer sound. "All The Time In Sunny Beach" is quick and punky, "Island" sounds like the Stereophonics on crack and "Good Girl" mixes it up between Jap Rap and Blink-182 chorusing.
The Mad Capsule Markets sound is best described by the blub on the back of the "Pulse" DVD. "Futuristic-techno-cyber-metal-punk!" You won't know what the hell they're singing about, but that wont stop you from cursing that the other 8 albums aren't available in this country. Start a petition people!
