Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Sam and Max Hit the Road lets players guide Sam (a detective dog) and Max (his rabbit sidekick) through a series of twisted adventures. Don't let the talking-animal theme fool you--this is a cartoon for adults with plenty of over-the-top humour and some tricky puzzles.

Customer Reviews

Two of the finest point and clickers ever made.5
Day of the Tentacle is one of the greatest adventure games ever released. It ranks alongisde such classics as 'Grim Fandango' and 'The Secret of Monkey Island'.

Witty, Hilarious, Interesting, Satisfying. The puzzles are all perfect, the dialogue is delicious, and the tentacles terrible. Schafer at his finest.

Sam and Max is also a brilliant game, although not nearly as good. It's a lot funnier, and the voice acting is superb, but it lacks in the puzzle area, often being annoying.

And as for the other review, telling you that there will be no sequels, he lies! Sam & Max 2 (Mark 2) is in production as I type, and Day of the Tentacle 2 (Or Maniac Mansion 3) is still a possibility.

If you liked 'Monkey Island', any of the 'Quest' or 'Larry' series, or any of the classic point and click adventures, and you don't own this, then you really should go slap yourself in the face immediatly, and return to your computer with a credit card and an excited look on your face.

These games WILL WORK on XP !!!!!!!5
DOTT and Sam & Max are two of the best (and funniest) original adventure games for the PC, regardless of how old they now are. A recommended purchase, especially with the two games now on the one cd at this price! Ignore what has been said before, to run these games on Windows XP (or any other version of Windows that you are having problems running the CD with) all you need to do is to download a small free program called 'SCUMMVM', from Lucasarts, at: http://www.scummvm.org/

This program lets you play the games perfectly on XP with no problems whatsoever with full sound, along with many other Lucasarts games such as the original CD and Floppy versions of Beneath A Steel Sky, Indiana Jones, Loom, the Dig, Full Throttle, and so on. Beneath A Steel Sky is now available on freeware game websites now if you look hard enough as well. There really is no excuse for not buying Sam and Max/DOTT though since SCUMMVM runs it fine on XP, and if you like adventure games at all you definately wont be disappointed by this purchase

A must have for any serious adventure gaming fan5
What can I say about these two gems - these are arguably the best two adventure games produced by Lucasarts, the makers of the Monkey Island series and now with the genre in decline, these are simply reminants of how brilliant the genre really can get. Recently Funcom produced 'The Longest Journey' which ranks as one of the best adventure games on the PC but these two made years ago still rival it. Both are comedy adventures with tons of humour and while the graphics are not 3D, I have always felt that the 2D games were best for this genre (and they are nice graphics too!). With full voice acting through out and ingenious puzzles that are always logical , one you've played these two, you know you have experienced a great bit of gaming. This DVD package of the two games is a rare find too so snap it up asap!
