Sypro is back for his third PlayStation adventure. Jump down the rabbit hole to recover all the eggs stolen from Dragon World by the evil sorceress and her henchmen "Rhynocs". The cartoonish look, the goofy sounds and the scavenger-hunt gameplay will be familiar to anyone who has adventured with Spyro before. New to the series is the ability to play as Sheila the kangaroo, Sergeant Byrd the flying penguin, Bentley the Yeti, and Agent 9 the space monkey. In Year of the Dragon, Spyro still has all of his signature moves--as well as the special moves he learned in Spyro the Dragon 2--and can control such vehicles as tanks, submarines and speedboats. There are over 30 levels in which to recover 150 eggs. Also, there are several mini-games to complement the standard gameplay, including boxing and skateboarding.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Following on from the hugely popular PlayStation Series Spyro is back in Spyro-The Year of the Dragon and this time he is cuter than ever.
The story starts with the same old adage of an evil leader taking hostages and then you as the only one who can save them and the world from this tyranny.
All sounds familiar so far, well you are wrong, because once you get past the cut scenes of all your family's eggs being stolen and you being the only one that can get them back, you are presented with a wonderful array of colours, scenery and graphics that play with your senses.
I know that seems to be going over the top a little, but imagine graphics that are slightly better than Rayman 2, yet with a little dragon with very hot breath and you'll get the picture.
With the exception of the Rayman series, normally when a game is this graphically luscious, the levels and actual gameplay suffers, but not here. Spyro is a full 37 levels packed with everything from running to skateboarding, with a learning curve that will suit old fans and newcomers alike.
With other characters available as well, the story isn't just about Spyro and his flames, as you chase around after the eggs and every gem you can lay your hands on to access the secret levels and add bonuses.
This title has appeal to all ages really, whether it's the younger gamer for the colours and the non-violent gameplay or the older player who is looking for a new challenge, you will find it all here. --Stuart Miles

Spyro - Year of the Dragon
This game is a gem! For fans of the other 2 Spyro's, you'll lap this up. Anyone coming to the series afresh need only have a passing interest in platform games to be captured by this game. It's stunning to look at (and I have a PS2 - and I'm still impressed!), sounds great with some catchy tunes and fun effects, and plays like a dream. Whether you're controlling Spyro, any of the other 4 characters, ice skating, skate-boarding, gliding, swimming etc etc etc - it all feels spot on, with good and fair collision detection. It's tough in places but progress is constant, and with plenty of veriety there's always something new to do or another secret to find. One of the best platform games I've played in a while, and one of the best I have ever played. Few designers can even get the camera angles to work - while Spyro does it all just right. Snap it up at this bargain price.
Year of the dragon is pure gold
With the release of a third Sypro adventure i thought that the time would come when i bored of the little purple dragon and his dragon fly pal. But not so after playing for what seemed like a full day i was once again hooked on the firey one!
With full power ups and new characters id say its even better than the first two!!! Plus what with new levels sparx even gets to prove himself. The graphics are astounding and as ever the gameply is excellent.
If He Saved Avalar, He Can Save The Forgotten World!
Back in the old days I knew that Sony were going to do a Spyro 3 game after the success from Spyro 1 and Spyro 2, so my mum surprised me one evening when she brought me back the game! To tell you the truth, comparing the first days play between Spyro 2 & Spyro 3, I actually didn't play Spyro 3 as long as what I did with Spyro 2!
I finished the game a good old few times, but it was placed in my CD wallet for a good old period of time. Now, going back to the Playstation 1 world, I popped on this classical game and finished it within 1-2 weeks. This third instalment of Spyro games, probably took me longer to do than Spyro The Dragon, and Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer!
Continuing with the story from Spyro 2! In Spyro 3, it's the year when the Dragon's have their new bourns! Every 12 years, about 150 Dragon Eggs arrive in the Dragon Lands, which beings a new career for 150 Dragons! One day, while the eggs were still un-hatched and the Dragons were asleep a group of Rhynocs and Bianca (The Sorceress's Servant) infiltrated the Dragon Land, stole all the Dragon Lands and took them back their homeland, The Forgotten World! Luckily enough, Bianca tripped over Hunter's foot, which awakened Hunter and the other Dragons from their sleep! Unfortunately she got away with the last egg! Bianca returned to the Forgotten World and awarded her Sorceress the eggs! The holes weren't big enough for the giant dragons to get through so Spyro and Hunter were the only two, which could enter the holes and head into the Forgotten World, to retrieve the eggs back! So without saying more, the book turns over, and the adventure will resume, once again!
Using graphics and sound effects mostly from Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer, Spyro must use his well-known abilities to out master The Forgotten World! Throughout this wild adventure Spyro will witness a few wildlife creatures that will be wiling to help him since The Forgotten World, after all, is a Forgotten Place! With the assistant of Sergeant James Byrd with his dual sized Rocket Launchers and Bentley, the Yeti with his icicle crystal club on your side, Spyro will create a team which is unstoppable and unbeatable!
My Personal Game Score: 9.3/10: Agreeable, Fine, Sound
My Wish: I'd like to see Sony designing a Playstation 2 game, which has all of the original Spyro The Dragon games in one pack (Spyro 1, Spyro 2, Spyro 3 etc)!
Final Comments: The third instalment of the Spyro legacy may not have impressed me as much as Spyro 2 did, but I would say Fair Play for this third edition! A must have for the Spyro The Dragon legacy or collection!
