On their self-titled album, Florida quintet New Found Glory make spike-topped punk pop in the mould of Green Day--who figure in the lengthy A-Z band check list on the sleeve. The follow up to their 1999 debut Nothing Gold Can Stay, this shows little interest in deviating from the breakneck three-chord template or their usual preoccupation (or more correctly, infatuation) with girls. The traditional lyrical concerns expressed in lines such as "You gotta watch out for the beautiful ones / They'll twist your head right off your neck / And laugh about it with their friends" ("Boy Crazy") might well be destined to soundtrack lightweight teen movies but they tend to congeal into one big too-sweet sugar rush. --Mike Pattenden

This high-energy quartet performs Blink 182-style pop-punk that owes more of a sonic debt to Green Day than to first-generation types like the Buzzcocks, which means the accent here is on pop. As single-minded in their pursuit of this aesthetic as any great rock band should be, New Found Glory keepit exclusively fast and loud, never pausing for anything astransgressive as a ballad (the title of "Ballad For the Lost Romantics" notwithstanding); they don't even bother addingadditional instruments to the arrangements.
The guitar-bass-drums axis reigns unchallenged throughout the album. Theonly adornment is consistently spot-on vocal harmonies thatadd just the right amount of pop tinge to New Found Glory'srelentlessly hard-charging tunes.

Speed-power-pop-punk at its best!
What an album! I decided to buy this album after seeing the video for "hit or miss" on MTV2, and I was not disappointed. The album is full of speedy riffs combined with powerful vocals and intelligent lyrics, this is a must have for any blink 182 fans, etc. BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!

An Excellent Up-Beat Album For Punk Fans All Alike
A very good album which is near enough glued inside my CD player because I always listen to it!! 'Hit Or Miss' may tempt you into buying the album, but tracks like 'Better Off Dead', 'Dressed To Kill', 'Eyesore' and 'All About Her' will have you begging for more! A totally well rounded punk band worthy of the fame and 'glory' which Green Day and Blink 182 receive!!!

Cheeky Pop Punk that'll have you singing!!
I'm not an out and out punk fan so something like this has to be pretty special before I'll part with the cash. Thing is, this is worth every penny!! You'll be singing your head off as you're driving along with this in the car stereo. It had me hooked from track 1 and it just gets better.

Think Blink 182 but better. Better melodies, better vocals, better lyrics. NFG don't disappoint! I even lent my copy to a diehard dance music fan and he loved it. If you're looking for a good intoduction to that whole SoCal/teen angst/pop punk thing. This is it!
