Amazon.co.uk Review
Geri Halliwell's transformation from Spice Girl to hip babe owes as much to her taking up yoga--a step she shares with us in Geri Yoga--as it does to revamping her wardrobe. Where Madonna and Sting have led the craze in this field, Geri has decided to show us all the yoga way. The 90-minute Geri Yoga features yoga teacher Katy Appleton presenting two warm up sections, a core Hatha yoga class, relaxation, along with an interview with Geri on yoga as a lifestyle.
The entire session appears unscripted, which means it captures the spontaneity of a lesson, yet it's presented in a slick manner from a modern airy studio. A former dancer with the English National Ballet, Katy Appleton's confident poise and ease diffuses Geri the star. Appleton manages to balance her instructions and attention between Tina (the beginner in the sessions) and the advanced Geri, enabling viewers to see how they can progress. Yoga aficionados will be impressed by the precision of Appleton's teaching and horrified by Geri's inane babbling. Unless you're a die-hard Geri fan who can forgive the inappropriate references to calories, you'll be waiting for Appleton to release Yoga without Geri.
On the DVD: Geri fans will lap up the extended interview, while non Geri fans will be thankful for the isolated music score. There is also an additional session geared to re-energising and revitalising body and mind. --Lorna V

Not what I had hoped for
I had hoped that this would be about Yoga, but it isn't. Rather it is about Geri; what a surprise!
I thought Yoga was about integrating body, mind and spirit, however with all of the crass comments and chatting going on it is very difficult to concentrate on anything other than 'What Geri thinks.' I feel it is a shame she wasted such a golden opportunity to spread the true meaning and essence of Yoga to such a wide audience.
If she can do it, so can you!
This video / DVD is presented in four easy steps after an initial introduction from both Geri and the teacher Suzy, the warm up section begins, followed by the more advanced sun warm up. Then there is a section called Geri's postures and finally a relaxation section. All sections are easy to follow as Suzy talks through the movements for beginners and more advanced pupils. The video also includes a interview with Geri where she talks about her past eating disorders, her struggle with faddy diets and finally her descion to start Yoga and then the process of making the video. The DVD extras include an extended interview, a customized workout and an energy workout. Even if you don't find the aspect of watching Geri Halliwell doing Yoga very appealing, the video is far more focused on Suzy and her teachings, with Geri in the background adding her comments, "I sometimes forget to breathe." An interesting and insightful video which should be in every yoga collection.
STOP the chat! get on with the yoga!
I bought two DVDs - Geri and Power Yoga. I started with Geri but after about 20-odd minutes, I had to turn it off. TOO MUCH TALKING. Geri and her mate seem like nice enough ladies but for goodness sake, stop the banter and get on with the yoga. I seemed to be lying listening to them yabber on about how great yoga is thinking "I'm not doing an awful lot here". I also found that they didn't seem to hold the positions long enough for me to feel a stretch. Turned off Geri, banged the other DVD on (Power Yoga) and got exactly what I was after - great Yoga, excellent teacher who was focusing on the Yoga, not her perception of yoga and it's benefits-Power Yoga is a much better buy. I probably won't play Geri Yoga again.
