another tame wwf outing2
personally i didn't like kotr 2001 i stayed up to watch it and it really wasn't worth wasting kip for!!!
we start with one of only 2 kotr semi final matches when really the perfect kotr has all 4!!! chrsitian and kurt angle go at it one on one why the hell shane had to interupt baffles me!!! i'd prefer as most people would to see clean ppv finishes makes it much better!!!! although it pushes christian a bit so...!!! edge and rhyno go at it next i liked this match, clean finish exciting but too short, both these guys are great to watch!!! the dudleys took on spike and kane in a suprisingly decent match but it still was really raw material not ppv!!! even kanes chokeslam through a table seemed a little disapointing!!! kotr finals next (this should have been the main event or at least near it!!!!)
edge took on kurt this woke me up the first match that was fit for ppv unlike the rest of the raw standard outings!!! nice work guys, now i was awake and ready for the rest of the ppv witch had to be better!!! so out comes jeff hardy and x pac and im thinking wow im in for a treat here a nice long fast high risk afair!!! what did i get? a naf relativly slow match which was nothing on jeff and lynns encounter a few weeks earlier!!!! now ddp and the undertaker i was never looking forward to this!!! and i was right not to, why the undertaker took soo long puching him and not selling his shots i don't know and never will, in my opinion taker should retire now before annoying the fans with more winging about bad clotheslines and boring them with the same basic matches they've watched for a decade!!! once he was fun to watch now he's becoming another hogan who doesn't know when to quit!!! bad booking they should of at least had a match!! anyway, thank god kurt got to fight shane, the second ppv standard match all night and what a match a classic, then finally austin jericho and benoit had a brilliant main event, the fans didn't care because they had jsut seen shane go through a glass window, so the reaction to the main event was timid at best!!!!
kotr 2001 was basically a good raw is war!!! not a ppv we saw no title changes and some awful matches, shane, angle and the main event made up for some awful booking but this was not enjoyable, dont buy this buy judgement day if only for the chain match and the tag team turmoil!!!! please wwf, we want to be entertained, next time!!!!!!

The best King if the Ring!!5
You have to buy this DVD for one reason, the Kurt Angle Vs Shane 'O Mac Street Fight. It has to been seen to be beleived! Its even better than the Cactus Jack/HHH one of RR 2000. The rest of the matches are also outstandingly good, especially the KOTR matches. Excellent!!!!!

2001 was a good year for the wwf,wcw and ecw fell due to the wwfs power and the company could work with a large pool of talent and even start an invasion angle, that granted did go on a bit too long, but by june 2001 was still in its infancy.
The event started with two semi final matches that were both good, rhyno and jeff hardy in particular was filled with quality. The dudley boyz fought kane and spike dudley with the tag titles on the line and again this was a good match.
The king of the ring tournament final match was up next which was odd as it was so early on in the night,i wont say who was involved but they had a good match, loaded with pace and quality and you can seldom ask for more than that.
The WWF lightweight championship was up next, the champ was jeff hardy and he was up against x pac who drew good heat on this night, anyway, this match looked good on paper but was very slow in parts which wasnt good in terms of expectation,in the end it didnt last long and these two would have better fights.
A street fight was up next as shabne o mac went up against kurt angle, this match was a masterpiece,a real classic,a modern classic,an instant classic, the works, the match was loaded with 'oh my God ' moments, blood flew through the air with gusto and we all witnessed something special, neither man could give an inch more, they didnt have too of course, they gave all they had.
The main event was on next,it would have to be good to follow that and for the most part the match struggled but in its own the main event which was a triple threat match featuring the wwf champ stonecold steve austin going up against chris jericho and chris benoit, the match had some great stuff in it and at times it sludged down and got a bit poor but overall this was a good event, and certainly at times it was excellent.
On another note the event rattled on all night with dimond dallas page wanting to fight the undertaker and make him famous,it got old quick and they did in fact have an unscheduled fight which was ugly as sin,the taker sold very little and the encounter was so poor that it backfired almost, anyway,a dvd worth buying for sure,3.5 stars.
