Amazon.co.uk Review
Denials, Delusions and Decisions is the debut solo album from singer/songwriter Jaguar Wright, the latest soul singer to break out of the thriving Philadelphia scene--the birthplace of legends Patti LaBelle and Teddy Pendergrass as well as more recent arrivals Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Jazzyfatnastees and Bilal. Like Scott, Wright came to prominence through her association with hip-hoppers The Roots, contributing her considerable vocal skills to the rap group's "What You Want" (from The Best Man soundtrack) and "The Lesson, Part III" (from The Roots Come Alive). Wright's powerhouse alto works lusty rumbles and righteous wails with an ease that would do Lady Marmalade proud, so it's a shame much of the material on her debut relies heavily on repetitive, ho-hum grooves that mask her potential to let loose and sing. Things work best when Wright taps into the blues-woman/bad-girl vibe you'd expect from a girl named Jaguar, as on the Etta James-style opener, "What If"; the sassy, street-hardened soul of "Same Sh*t, Different Day"; and the tell-it-like-it-is ballad "Self Love", one of the few cuts on which Wright's voice really gets to shine. --Sylvia W Chan
CD Description
Sexy, slinky, sensuous, and probably many other adjectives beginning with "s", Jaguar Wright (one hates to think of thecomments in the school playground) here stakes her claim asan heir to the long line of tough, street-smart female chanteuses that stretches from Bessie Smith to Mary J Blige. If the material on DENIALS, DELUSIONS AND DECISIONS is any indication, she should have no trouble assuming her rightful position.
What's on offer here is a variety of smartly-produced R&B, savvy enough to make all the right musical references (witness the Southern-flavoured Fender Rhodes at the top of "Country Song") in all the right places. Wright often recalls her namesake Betty Wright and a youthful Millie Jackson, especially in her spoken asides, and the overall feel of DENIALS is undoubtedly '70s retro. Even occasional nods at contemporary R&B, such as "Ain't Nobody Playin'", are given added depth by Wright's deep soul readings, and when she recalls her roots in "Lineage", it's obvious both where she gets the grit in her voice and that she's here for the long haul.

Philly is hitting our AIRWAVES!
Jaguar Wright is a strong woman of direct expression, which denotes that in each song. The Philly sound which has captured my heart speaks the truth of life through the works of this great musician and others alike.
"Remember" is a song which takes the listner through the journey of Jaguar's life reflecting on issues such as AIDS in her family (this may be fictional, so don't sue!)and family members that she appreciates and makes you recognise what we have in this life is not forgotten.
Her duet with Bilal, is naughty, but a hell of a song. So if you wanna get freaky with your man, then play the track Mister DJ!
Overall, this woman has not been given the airplay she deserves, but the music is appreciated and if anyone wants to catch Jaguar at her best listen to Jay-Z's Unplugged, she takes the sound back to Church and believe, this woman knows how to bring the house DOWN!!
MAD PROPS! MUCH LOVE Jaguar.
