Customer Reviews
another pop gem from Glasgow...
Inteligent and beautiful. Sometimes they sound like Belle & Sebastian, sometimes like Sundays, but always very original and fresh. Eighties Fan is/was probably the sleeper hit of the year. When did Glasgow become a pop-music center of the universe?
Nice pop music....
This is a superb album from this Glasweigan band and is perfect for fans of witty, angular pop a la Belle and Sebastien. ALthough I would also say that their second album, "Underacheivers must try harder" is even better
Put this in you Big Blue HiFi
Camera Obscura are in my opinion the best thing Glsagow has to offer, their sound is a kind of mixture of Cinerama meets Belle and Sebastian with a wiff of country-tinged pop, with their marvelous vocals and plesantly melodic instrumentation. The album is made up of 10 fantastic songs that you cant help but love, indeed this year John Peel placed their song 'eighties fan' in the top ten of his Festive Fifty up there with last years 'next big things' The Strokes and the White Stripes.
This is surely an album you should own, so buy it now so that you can say you knew about then before they made it into the big time!
