Customer Reviews

Very Good4
After purchasing her debut and loving it, I was both pleased to hear of a follow up, but also skeptical that she could maintain the high standards the first album set out. But i'm pleased to say that this is another top notch album. Opening with the Pop/Rock stomper 'These Days', this provides a good indication of the quality of the music. 'Here With Me' gives Jennifer a new edge with it's heavy guitar driven chorus. Other standout tracks include the current single 'Stranded', the thoughtful ballad 'You Get Through', the reflective 'Feel So Far Away', and the dance track 'The Edge' which she positively belts out! All in all, this is an essential album to have in your collection. Though it doesn't quite match up to the remarkable debut, i'd certainly be proud of it, if it had been my follow up album!

Postitvely There!4
After an extended break from recording Jennifer is back with a brand new album and a sound that shows once again that she is well ahead critically of the other girl singers that she is often grouped with.

Postively Somewhere is a mix of ballards, rock pop and indie tinged tracks. The opener is the brilliant These Days a uptempo rock pop song. This is followed by Here with Me a dreamy song with fast paced guitars as backing. Stranded the current single is a mid tempo ballard which once in your head will stay their for a while Whilst Make Me is probably the nearest Jennifer will get to her sugar pop peers, this is not a criticism as the track is very catchy. The excellent song Way of the World, is once of those dance songs which with some good remixing has hit all over it.Whilst Not this time, is a sheer unadulterated pop. The next track, You get through is one of the less powerful tracks which doesn't really hold the attention. Feel so Far Away is a dreamy ballard which is perfect for late nights.
After this however is when the pace of the album sags slightly but it picks up for Stay the night and the last track Vapour has an indie flavour to it and is an ideal closer.

On the whole this is a good set from a developing artist who has wisely decided to move away from the over producing which mars many of the princesses of pop music, the artist shows a continuing maturity which is largely thanks to the different song writers she has hooked up with for this set. The only minuses are that there are a few weak tracks which don't have very stong hooks and also that the CD doesn't contain the song Beautiful which was on the Autumn In New York soundtrack it would have ended the cd perfectly, shame. On the whole a promising development from one of the US more independent divas!

Positively Average3
Jennifer Paige's debut album was just simply brilliant full of beautifully sung songs and the brilliant song "Crush" so for me any follow up album she did was always going to have to be very special and I'm afraid to say this new album isn't.

Most of the songs sound very similar and frankly I feel are not actually that special.

This for me is going to be one of those albums that gets resigned to the back of my collection. Jennifer Paige has an amazing voice and I feel that the songs on this album do not do her vocal talents justice at all.

To sum this album up I would say that it was positively average!
