Customer Reviews

One of the best Very Best Of's around4
What can you say about "Best of ..." albums that simply list the hits? Well, as "Best of" album's go, this is one of the best! Nine Police hits and another nine of Sting's as a soloist, all written by the main man himself.

One of the benefits of this format is that it allows you to revisit songs away from the context of the album in which they originally appeared. And so I was able to appreciate just how brilliant "Fields of Gold", "Brand New Day", "Desert Rose" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" really are: they are truly five-star songs. But the downside is that you also realise just how annoying is "Can't Stand Losing You".

But that's the only duff track in what is an excellent selection of songs.

What an album?5
Gordon Sumner (alias Sting) established himself in the band Police, with a host of hits including Every Breath you take and Message in A Bottle. He later launched a successful solo career with hits such as English man in New York, If You Love Somebody Set Them Free, Fields of Gold, Desert rose and many more. He has been in the music business spanning four decades and still his appeal as a musician has not diminished.

The Very Best of Sting and the Police features all the hits of Gordon Sumner (Sting) during his association with Police band and as a solo artist. Every single track from start to end is superb and is something you can listen time and time again. It makes an excellent inclusion in your CD collection

The beauty about the album is that it consist of songs from four decades 70's, 80's, 90's and present. This shows that his sticking power as a musician is very strong. If you have a passion for music of the highest quality, purchase this album. It beats music industry today, which is bombarded with too many manufactured bands and Sting exemplifies what real music should entail. There is talent in today music industry which I am not going to deny, but it is hard to find unique talent such as Sting and his album deservedly honours his talents and skills which he brings to the music industry.

If you are looking for talented musician with a great voice as in the case of Sting and also leave a music legacy with their singles as proven by his excellent track record, then buy this album.

Brilliant from start to finish5
An album full of brilliant classic tracks, but a glaring omission in "Shape of My Heart", recently defiled by the awful Sugar Babes and Craig David. If you think you like Sting, trust me, you do: buy this, its great!
