Product Description

The galaxy is in turmoil as the events of Star Wars: Episode II rapidly approach. Mace Windu dispatches one of the Council's top Jedi, Adi Gallia, to investigate disturbances in the Karthakk system, as a secessionist movement threatens to expand. Using the Republic's new prototype Jedi starfighter, Adi Gallia sets out on missions which lead into events depicted in the Episode II film. She quickly gains an upper hand in space battles through Force powers, but will these be enough to counter the massive fleet of the evil Captain Toth and a mysterious figure that threatens the very foundations of the Galactic Republic system?

You will fly the new Jedi starfighter and get a preview of characters and events from the film. There is single and dual player action in over 20 story-based missions: fly all missions cooperatively with a friend, or in single-player mode, in a variety of spacecraft. There are over 40 new craft, including massive capital ships, three new flyable fighters, new enemy craft, and more.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Jedi Starfighter is the latest in that much abused of gaming genres, the Star Wars game. Included in the few gems was Jedi's prequel, Star Wars: Starfighter, a cockpit-view shooter that stood out among early PS2 titles. Jedi serves more as an extra set of missions than a full-blown follow-up, but there are some new features and the gameplay feels a lot smoother. The finest of these new additions are the Force weapons; when playing as the Starfighter itself, you're able to utilise the Force to unleash mass devastation on your foes. The 15 missions alternate between control of this craft and a more robust ship well stocked with missiles; despite being based around a basic protect-and-shoot premise, the missions are nicely varied in style.

The controls are baffling at first but you'll soon be pulling off some outrageous manoeuvres as you hunt down the enemy ships while issuing commands to your comrades. The graphics in these dogfights are fantastic, especially when using the zoom option, but larger ships tend to explode in a less than convincing fashion. The lack of recognisable characters, bar an appearance from Mace Windu and a Yoda voiceover, does detract, as does the lack of the classic Star Wars ships (the game is based indirectly on Episode 2). This is partially made up for by an unlockable Tie Fighter along with some new missions and some truly bizarre bonus material. While being a bit too similar to the previous game to warrant buying both, Jedi Starfighter is a very accomplished title that only suffers slightly from its repetitive nature.--Jonathan Winter

Manufacturer's Description
Jedi Starfighter presents 15 exhilarating one and two-player cooperative story-based missions set amidst a variety of new and beautifully rendered worlds and environments, as featured in Attack of the Clones. In addition to the Jedi starfighter, players can battle in three other original heavily armed and highly manoeuvrable craft, the Havoc, Zoomer and Freefall. The force is strong in this one4
Jedi Starfighter, with its use of locations, vehicles and other miscellaneous snippits from Episode 2, it attains an enviable position of being a must for all prospective jedi knights.
A great asset to this game is the lifespan it offers, there are over 20 big missions with the availability of unlocking secrets to be found in a bonus section, allowing you to take control of advanced starfighters, republic gunships and so i've heard even the x wing.
Speech and music effects in the game add a witty rapport, with Schwarzenegger-esque one liners adding a certain humour to the eye watering explosion fest of a space fighter shoot-em-up.
There is also a cooperative mode available to play on all the standard 20+ missions, allowing the pacifist friends in your life to enjoy a game without the threat of being blasted to bits by the white knuckled action hero who says its for your own good.
Overall, this game is similar to the previous starfighter but smoother graphics and better gameplay make it an essential for all star wars fans and also a good choice for all space combat lovers.

It's Star Wars, need I say more?!4
At first glance some people may think 'oh great, another Star Wars game.' But LucasArts have really gone to work with this title, which boasts superb and realistic graphics, addictive gameplay and a host of unlockable bonus features.

The game takes place during the time of Episode II: Attack of the Clones, but has very little reference to it, in fact it is an almost brand new plot. You are Jedi Master Adi Gallia who has been given charge of a prototype of the Jedi Starfighter, the ship Obi-Wan Kenobi flew in the film. As a means of testing this new fighter, Adi has been sent to the Karthaak system to investigate disturbances there. Almost immediately you are catapulted into a deadly scheme coordinated by the Trade Federation and Cavik Toth's mercenary army, in which they are planning to use devestating 'Hex' weapons to win the war against the Republic. Only a small Revenent force led by Nym opposes them.

As far as gameplay is concerned it is very similar to Starfighter, but for those who are new to the series it can seem very confusing, especially on some of the later levels where the area is literally crammed with starfighters and starships. But the game provides 5 training missions seperate to the story at the beginning which can help you familiarise yourself with the controls and how the game works. You can play as Adi or Nym, depending on which mission you're on, and thanks to the new 2 player co-operative system, Player 2 can control 2 otherwise unplayable characters.

In addition to your regular lasers, whilst controlling the Jedi Starfighter you have the option of 4 different 'Force' Powers which become available during the game, such as Force Lightning and Force Shield. Nym has a devestating host of secondary weapons such as cruise missiles and proximity bombs. The other two characters also have their own unique secondary weapons.

The main downside to the game is that it is rather short, yet a wide variety of bonus features, such as 5 unique player 1 secret missions including one involving Jango Fett and Slave 1, 5 secret player 2 missions including a classic dogfight between X-wings and Tie Fighters, and a whole host of unlockable craft, such as the X-Wing, Tie Fighter, the Republic Gunship and Slave 1 which you can all select to play as in any mission. You can also unlock some humourous and often quite bizarre bonus footage.

No doubt that Jedi Starfighter is a fantastic game, and with it now being so cheap it is a must for any Star Wars fan, and may even convert those with whom the force is weakest.

Best Star Wars Game Ever?5
Maybe not but is a real contender for no. 1 top spot. Jedi Starfighter is a brilliant flight sim with excellent controls that at the start take a while to get used to but after the first few training levels the controls become instinctive. As this is a sequel to the original Starighter on PS2 fans of the original should feel right at home, with the same wingmate command buttons and lock on features. However this is not just a rehash at the original, with up to four secondary weapons now available, and the ability to fly the new prototype Jedi Starfighter(which will be making an appearance in the new Star Wars film "Attack of the Clones". The bonus features in JS are also improved as you can now unlock both one and two player special missions, new craft( including the x-wing and tie fighter from the original saga). You can also access other bonus features such as art from the upcoming film, art from the game and movie outakes. Finally a co-operative two player mode has now been added, so you can play through all of the one player missions with a friend to watch your back.
Jedi Starfighter is one of my favourite games, and has tremendous replay value with three difficulty settings and a co-operative mode. Many who have the original game will probably not get this as you'll think that they are too similar, you're wrong, this is a classic Star Wars game that both fans of the movies and newcomers(if that's possible?) will enjoy.
