Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
This Is the Remix is a 13-track collection of various Destiny's Child remixes, plus an added bonus track, ("Heard A Word" taken from Michelle William's soon-to-drop gospel album. Destiny's Child are definitely top of the pops. Ingeniously, the trio fuse a "Praise the Lord" ethos and glass shattering gospel holler with ghetto fabulous bikini-clad looks and phat 'n' funky paeans to their posteriors. Sadly, that Soulwax remix featuring the brilliant but bizarre soundclash between the gals' "Independent Women" and 10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday" (honest Guv) is not included. Instead, a posse of hip-hop's usual suspects--Missy Elliott, Wyclef, Da Brat, producers Timbaland and the Neptunes--add trademark rhymes and beatz to a selection of Destiny's biggest joints. Sadly, this version of "Independent Women" (Part II)--pointlessly plucked from their Survivor album--fails to match either the infamous bootleg or the scintillating original. Far better is the Missy assisted version of "Bootylicious", a lascivious yet defiant shout out to the scrubs: "I don't think you ready for this jelly, cause my body too bootylicious for ya babe"... sheer bloody poetry. Equally rump-shaking is "Jumpin' Jumpin'", where D C are joined by Lil Bow Wow, JD and Da Brat. Those cuts sporting R&B and rap remodels are generally welcome alternatives to the celebrated originals, but a dull-as-Will Maurice Joshua house makeover of "Bills Bills Bills" should not have been advised. The occasional disappointment aside, This Is the Remix confirms Destiny's Child as the finest pop/soul/R&B act on the planet. --Chris King

Customer Reviews

This album is Jumpin, Jumpin!!5
I cannot recommend this album more highly!! Any Destiny's Child fan will not be disappointed. The album starts with the classic "No, No, No" feat.Wyclef Jean which is fantastic!! The old skool remix ofEmotions is great, but my personal fave is track 5, remix of "Bug-A-Boo", it just makes u wanna shake yo booty!! Amazing!! Remix of "Nasty Girls" is also quality. This album is the Destiny's Child we know and love, but with a funkier, more urban , hip-hop edge...the pure and soulful tones of Beyonce, Michelle and Kelly mixed in with the hard-ass beatch tones of Missy, Da Brat and co...absolutely brilliant, a definite for any DC fan!!

Another Stylish Sound from the Stars of Destiny's Child!5
Destiny's Child are now one of the world's best and most popular girl groups - and this album certainly shows why! It gives a wide selection of their original hit songs, and adds a new flavour to them. Each track is different, but I think the contrast makes the album great, as you get a real variety of styles, although they are mainly R'n'B. Whether you want to chill out or dance till' you drop, this album guarantees you listening pleasure.

I love Destiny's Child's Surivivor Album, and if you like that I am sure you will like this. I think it will be loved by all fans of R'n'B stars like Christina Milan, City High, and Honeyz. This album is particually good, as it contains songs from all three of their albums, which means all new Destiny's Child fans get the chance to hear some of their older material, such as 'No No No', but older fans will love it too because each song is different from any they will have heard on previous albums.

This album is something for the group to be really proud of, and hope hope to hear loads more of their great tracks like this in future! All I can say to their fans is Enjoy the Great Music.
