Amazon.co.uk Review
As Heard on Radio Soulwax Vol. 2 follows some mixed reviews for the Soulwax boys' efforts at composing from scratch: they discovered they had a much greater talent for ripping other people's works together to create a whole new sound of their own.
As pioneers of the mash-up scene, the Soulwax boys were the first to actually get something into the public domain, and you can but wonder at how they managed to get most of the stuff on here cleared for use. Despite their clever moniker, 2 Many DJs is just two guys with a digital mixer and a box full of tracks that you'd never think to mix together. From Salt 'N' Pepa's "Push It" cut up with the Stooges' "No Fun", to Destiny's Child's "Independent Woman" over 10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday", blending seamlessly into Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five", the tracklisting may look like someone's idea of a joke, but somehow it works.
This is quite possibly the ultimate party soundtrack with something for everyone and the emphasis firmly on fun. --Helen Marquis

my favourite album
this is definately the best album i own.
the mixes are fantastic, with a great selection of songs used. i especially love the destiny's child/10cc reggae-ised independant women - brilliant.
i can listen to the whole album in one sitting with no problem, it doesn't get at all monotonous. great for background music at a party, just let it play, you'll hear plenty of '"oh yeah i like that one"'s.
i lent my last album out to a friend and never got it back so have had to buy a second one - so that's my only word of warning it - keep it safe!!
Not my usual taste
Before listening to this album I wouldn't have said I was a fan of this type of music, but after listening to this I've discovered a whole new genre! This album is great in so many ways, and no matter what your taste in music- I reckon it'll be a hit with you. I dare you not to dance or get happy listening to this... many nights out have been gotten ready for to this CD!
2 Many DJs, 1 good album
"As Heard On Radio Soulwax Vol.2" originally came out in 2003, and almost immediately was heralded as pioneering pop (where a vocal a cappella track is backed up with the instrumental track of another song), much like the Sugababes classic track "Freak Like Me" and "A Stroke of Genius" (The Strokes' "Hard to Explain" crossed with Christina Aguilera's "Genie In A Bottle").
Three years on, it is safe to say that this album has become a classic (even if it has never really been a big seller), simply because it has inspired many DJs and remixers to use the same techniques. In addition, it is, purely and simply, one phenomenally good album. The mixing is so seamless and professional that one is left open-mouthed in admiration, the song matter so wildly eclectic that you wonder how any of them could go together. Basement Jaxx crossed with Emerson Lake Palmer? Dolly Parton with Royksopp? Destiny's Child with 10cc? All done... to brilliant effect. Goodness, I'd have thought crossing GREAT artists like Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop and the Stooges and Garbage with stuff like Felix da Housecat and Salt n Pepa would have been a big no no, yet 2 Many DJs make it so easy and so believable.
In all, this will surely be regarded as a pioneering classic in the future, as well as being simply a fun album to listen to. 2 Many DJs, 1 good album. Just a pity they never got round to releasing officially the other 10 volumes of "As Heard on Radio Soulwax", because some of them in my view could- and would- top even this.
