Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
With the pop sense of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks now leading the band, Fleetwood Mac moved completely away from blues and created this homage to love, Southern California-style. Each songwriter makes his or her presence known: Nicks for her dreamy, mystical reveries ("Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman:); Christine McVie for her ultra-catchy slogans ("Don't Stop"); and Buckingham for his deceptively simple pop songs ("Second Hand News", "Go Your Own Way"). "The Chain", written collectively, is the Mac at their most dramatic. But it's the ensemble playing, the elastic rhythms and lush harmonies that transform the material into classic fare. --Rob O'Connor

CD Description
This second album with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham is Fleetwood Mac's defining moment. Leaving the original blues outfit led by Peter Green seeming like a different band completely. The new soft rock direction was a huge hit and the singles 'Go Your Own Way', 'Dreams' and 'Don't Stop' propelled the album to sales of over 17,000,000.

Customer Reviews

Doesn't get any better than this5
The sound is clear like crystal, the remix restrained and as 'surround' as it needs to be.

Overall the best version of Rumours out there.

No other needed!5
This is the best edition of this rather well-known album. No bonus tracks(ie rejected out-takes!)and a splendidly clear sound.

World-wide sales are now nearly 30 million. Why? It's a perfect fusion between 3 minute pop and rock, there's not a duff track on it, and this band line-up carries no passengers-they all contribute-so that's a perfect group, just for icing on the cake.

Later this year,it will be 30 years since its' initial release. It still sounds just as good today, and every time you play it, you tend to discover something new. How many others of this high-sales level could you say that about? Most are just an embarassment after a couple of years, but this one never will be, trust me-it's a gem!

A Timeless Album4
"Rumours" There can be few better albums to shine with interest on a new format, so now lets hear Rumours on DVD-Audio disc complete with a new multi-channel remix in order to persuade collectors to replace their tired old CD version. Besides the 3/2/1 mix there is also another significant change, that is the running order, "Silver Springs", a track previously abandoned due to vinyl playback time constraints now follows "Go Your Own Way", displacing "Songbird" to the end. An additional bonus is that the surround mix on "Silver Springs", is a very pleasent surprise especially for those who are familiar with the 2 channel mix. "Dreams" is decidedly warmer and now has a more rounded sound, possibly the way it was intended to be heard? In terms of over all fidelity the whole album profits from the air and space this new format gives."I Don't Want To Know" and especially "Oh Daddy" have been given a facelift and a new lease of life on DVD Audio. There is no doubting "Rumours" has improved from it's 21st Century makeover. By way of supplemental material the disc has not much to offer, however the "Making Of" section, an audio only peice which is accompanied by a selection of still images in the background without vocals is an interesting look into the albums conception and final production. This album plays the moment the drawer closes, a boost to those who listen with the TV off.
