Controlling a motley crew of renegade characters, you must hunt them down across environments such as the gangster-filled 1920s, the temples and lush jungles of the Aztecs, Soviet military installations of the Cold War and futuristic robot-factories in space.
TimeSplitters 2 delivers involved single-player and cooperative story modes; it has a complex narrative, multiple objective-based episodes and animated cut-scenes. Amazon.co.uk Review
Want to play a first-person shooter on your console? Tired of there being no proper GoldenEye sequel? Wishing that you could play the part of a Barbary ape in the Wild West? TimeSplitters 2 is the game for you if you answered "yes" to any of these questions.
When Rare made GoldenEye for the N64 in 1997 they created the best first-person shoot-'em-up the world had ever seen and, arguably, has ever seen to this day. Many of the geniuses behind the game left Rare shortly after to set-up their own company, Free Radical; their first game was the rather rushed (in time for the PS2's launch) TimeSplitters but this sequel is polished to perfection and easily one of the best games of the year.
One of the main problems with the original TimeSplitters was its awful single-player mode, but this has been totally revamped for the sequel with a proper story mode, all-new time zones and weapons and absolutely mountains of unlockable hidden extras. Thankfully they’ve kept the wicked sense of humour from the first game, but there's also a lot more strategy for solo players this time around, including an amusing homage to GoldenEye's Arkangelsk Dam level as well as pastiches of other games and films scattered throughout the game.
The real reason for TimeSplitters 2's greatness, though, is the multiplayer mode. This is GoldenEye to the nth degree, with superbly designed levels, tons of weapons and all sorts of tricks and gimmicks such as remote control gun turrets and invisibility pills. It may lack the epic scope of Halo but in multiplayer mode at least this is a lot more fun--and fun, as The Beatles never said, is all you need. --David Jenkins

Totally Awesome Dude!
Right from TS1 i got hooked to this series and with TS1 looking so great, TS2 was sure to make a big entrance. With lots of characters, weapons and many other things, this game is sure to please.
My fondest moments of this game is the challenge mode which is all about monkeys. Very amusing. Not only is this game good but it is also funny which sets it apart from other shooters such as its rival, the Halo series.
I strongly recommend this game to anyone who has a PS2 or PS3 as it is really great. The only dissapointing thing is that it doesn't do character animations when you select a character but it fully makes up for that in different areas. A great sequel to TS1. I think is slightly better that Future Perfect and whats more, it is a lot cheaper than when i bought it off the chart for £45.
Awesome Game. Do not miss this epic. Best game on the PS2.
Must Buy!!
Easily the greatest multiplayer game ever created!
Story mode lacks the depth of current games but makes up for it by providing a co-operative mode allowing you and a friend to play thorugh together in split screen.. something i think is missing in most current fps games on ps3 (barr resistance.. and upcoming haze)
the arcade modes is where this game reli shines... up to 4 player split screen with option of additional computer controlled AI matchs including capture the bag(flag) and deathmatchs and loads of other fun game modes, this game is a must buy for the arcade mode itself.... especially if you have some friends and some extra controllers.... as i never had broadband to play online in this game it the split screen mode made this game top of the multiplayer list for me for years.... i would definatly reccomend this game to someone looking for some good multiplayer action,... im unsure if it has online play but if it does its another reason to buy:):)
What's all the fuss about?
Reading the totally rave reviews of TimeSplitters-2 here on this page I thought I was in for a masterpiece game like Black. But when I played TimeSplitters-2 today all I experienced was a shooter that was hard to aim and control (what no crosshairs on the handgun?) and which was lacking in any kind of atmosphere or realism.
Maybe I never gave this game long enough, but half-an-hour felt way too long.
