Product Description

What do you get when you combine a producer/electronics whiz who's worked with Madonna, Bjork, and Seal, and a distinctive, charming female singer? Judging from the results of Frou Frou's debut album details, you get a duo capable of combining complex, arresting sonic vistas with very organic, intimate vocals to fine effect. From the dreamy, hypnotic quality of the opening track "Let Go" to the airy, Beth Orton-like"Hear Me Out", Guy Sigsworth consistently manages to find just the right setting for Imogen Heap's up-close vocal style. Whether Sigsworth is employing delicate ambient textures, gentle trip-hop beats, or near-techno dance arrangements, he's perfectly in tune with both the mood of the song and the breathy-but-confident delivery of Heap. There's an audible air of artistic simpatico between the two that runs throughout DETAILS and makes the whole thing work.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
With their name inspired by a French lyrical term for the sound of swishing skirts, a sound said to have driven men delirious with desire at the Folies Bergères, Frou Frou's debut album Details is suitably delicate, languorously sensual and deliciously evocative. One half breathless singer-songwriter Imogen Heap and the other uber-collaborator Guy Sigsworth, Frou Frou are a coupling of fine pedigree. Having worked with everyone from Seal, to Bjork and Madonna (cowrote "What It Feels Like For A Girl"), Sigsworth's decision to reunite with Heap following his contribution to her 1998 debut album I Megaphone is well judged.

Combining Sigsworth's electronic post-dance rhythms, naturalistic post-digital melodies and Heap's pre-bed honeyed vocals, Details glows with listless charm, effortless equanimity and an infectious joie de vivre. While tracks such as "Breathe In" and "It's Good To Be In Love" are both as gloriously uplifting as a dreamy cloudless summer morn, the romantic lyrics are self-explorative enough to keep the listener firmly rooted in reality. As Heap implores on "Dumbing Down Of Love": "music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry". A brave statement, but Details while beautifully emotional, is far more likely to raise a smile. --Christopher Barrett

Music to watch fireworks to5
This is a relaxing album, its refreshing to, it's music to think to, easy listening but thought provoking also. Each tune is really catchy, Imogen Heap has a great voice and Guy's tunes are very catchy. They work together to make something that ends up sounding very profound, you know the kind of thing, music for montages and firework displays, like at the end of movies where everything comes together, it has that sort of effect on hearing. In that respect it's a totally feel good album. Well worth buying

The Ultimate Show Down; Detail Versus Speak For Yourself5
Details is a breath-taker of an ablum, it is definately up there in my most played albums. I find it, basically, impossible to choose between Immi's solo stuff or her Frou Frou days - although I do believe this experience shaped her recent album 'Speak For Yourself'. Each song is quirky and refreshing, with a great deal behind each lyric and each chord.
Guy Sigsworth definately put his all into this album - it definately shows that he worked on Immi's Debut 'i MEGAPHONE' (Getting Scared).
LOVE IT... It would be a great addition to anyones CD collection and you'll be thanking yourslf later... :D
Highlights: Every detail (excuse the pun).
Disappointments: Well they got dropped and that's disappointing! :(

Excellent5
I first heard the track 'Let Go' from the film 'Garden State', it was an instant hit for me. I subsequently brought the Garden State album. After hearing the 'Let Go' track more often I decided to buy the Details album. I was a bit unsure as I had only heard one track, but I'm pleased to say that the album exceeded all my expectations. It's diverse and most of the tracks have the energy and charm (that's hard to describe) of 'Let Go'. I would recommend the album to every one. It's really very good.
