If you've already played Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 or PSone, don't despair: the makers have added all-new levels to Rayman Revolution and have improved the gameplay from previous versions. For those who haven't played Rayman 2, you're in luck, as Rayman returns in this 3-D adventure game that will keep you hopping through several graphically stunning game environments. Fans of Sonic, Mario and other platform games will enjoy the familiar gameplay. While the French-created Rayman character may not be as recognizable as Sonic or Mario, he does bear a distinct animated look, managing to keep it together despite the lack of any body limbs to connect his head, hands and feet.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Five years ago, the 3-D platform genre was exciting, as titles like Crash Bandicoot and Mario 64 ruled the console roost. Since then, we have seen the 3-D platform genre fill up with a few copycats and some outright stinkers. However, there have been a few classics in the intervening years, such as Banjo-Tooie. Now Rayman 2: Revolution can join the club.
Like past instalments, Rayman 2: Revolution borrows gameplay elements from a variety of different sources, but they are sources worth borrowing from. Several elements from Rayman 2: The Great Escape have been pilfered, including a similar story line. Revolution has a good combination of beautiful graphics, great controls, and enhanced gameplay. This will astound hard core gamers and those new to the hobby. There is enough puzzle solving, lever pulling, item collecting and platform jumping action to keep even the most ardent platform enthusiast busy for quite some time.
Admiral Razorbeard and his army of robots have enslaved the planet, and it's your job in Revolution to help Rayman search for pieces of the Primordial Core and summon Polokus to get rid of the robotic pirates. The levels are the same as in The Great Escape, but, due to the power of the PS2 and the detail put into reworking the levels for the game, they look spectacular. Ubi Soft has mixed old-school gameplay with graphical power, and mixed together those ingredients make this game a must-play for gamers of all ages.
Despite the borrowed elements from The Great Escape, Revolution for the PS2 offers up plenty of new thrills that will make the hearts of platform gamers skip a beat, just like the first time they played Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. It looks like this time, Rayman will finally get the respect he deserves. --Todd Mowatt

Rayman 2: The Great Escape/Rayman Revolution
Those of you who want to buy this game, beware. This is not a
brand new game, it is just a new and improved version of
Rayman 2: The Great Escape. But at the same time, it is a good game, better graphics and brand new places to explore.
It all starts in Rayman's World. It is now a bleak and sad place to live in, because the ruthless pirates from outer space
have come and invaded the world and destroyed the heart of the world, scattering the 1000 lums that hold it together.
They have also thrown Rayman and his friends into their prison, and even murdured some, like Betilla, Tarayzan, Joe the Extra-Terrestrial, and even some of his old enemies, like Mr. Dark,
Skops, Mr. Stone, and more.
While Rayman is in prison, the guards throw is new friend, Globox, into his cell. After a friendly reunion, Globox gives
Rayman a silver lum from Ly the fairy to recover his punching
fist. Rayman and Globox break out of the prison ship and fall 10,000 feet down to Earth.
After landing, Rayman cannot find Globox anywhere, but finds
three of Globox' sons, who tell him that Ly is trapped in the Fairy Glade. Rayman goes and frees her, and she gives him a new power, the grabbing fist. She then tells him about legend of
Polokus, a powerful and deadly wizard who could help them get
rid of the pirates, but he is asleep, and can only be awakened
if Rayman finds his four masks. He then travels to the Bayou and
frees the imprisoned Bzitt (Mosquito from the first Rayman), who (after he frees the recaptured Globox from the Canopy, who gives Rayman the super fist power from Ly) takes him to the first mask, but he must eliminate the guard there.
The rest of the story is so long, I will leave it up to you to find out what happens next.
Good Luck!
Not Revolutionary but Great fun
I got Rayman when I first bought my Playstation 2 back in March 2001, and have to say, this is one the best Platformers I have ever Played. Now it does look a bit dated but it still is an amazingly enjoyable game. It is very addictive and it only doesn't get 5 stars because of the fairly dated (yet nice and colourful) graphics, the sometimes frustrating camera and The fact that it doesn't have much reason to replay it.
This is a very enjoyable game that will please people of all ages, especially children aged under 12, but still enjoyable for anyone else. By the way i'm 14 and this is one of my favourite platformers on the PS2
