Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
After a two-year gap, Bryan Adams chose the animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron to make his triumphant return. The soundtrack is by no means a solo effort, but he has cowritten and sings on eight brand-new songs. Two of them are deemed so good they appear twice. The first of these, "Here I Am", is an uplifting tune that plays as the film's end credits. The other is the film's finale, "I Will Always Return", which seems like a statement on the artists' career. Of the others, the most interesting is the duet with Sarah McLachlan on "Don't Let Go", lending it a particularly atmospheric air with their combined breathy vocal stylings. This being a story of a mystical heroic horse, the lyrics are consistently upbeat and optimistic. Behind those lyrics is a collection of composers providing the melodies. Leading the team is Hans Zimmer, who's now an old hand at the animated genre (cf The Lion King and The Prince of Egypt). Towards the end of the album are four cues totalling 20 minutes of his instrumental score. These are perfectly in keeping with both the songs and Zimmer's style, featuring big orchestral themes overlaid with electronic augmentation. All together it's an hour of exactly what both artists do best. --Paul Tonks

~~ONE UNIQUE SOUNDTRACK!~~5
I first saw Spirit - Stallion of The Cimmaron, when it was released back in 2002. I brought the soundtrack weeks later, and i still listen to it now in 2005! its that good!

Bryan adams was the perfect selection to sing and contribute, i would definatly recommend his other works, if you liked him in this!

what i liek the MOST about Spirit soundtrack, is that you have some beautiful lyrics, and beautiful tunes. The music is very uplifting and relaxing, other tracks are heavy rock (Get off my back, you can't take me) which i think would be ideal for parties. The soundtrack also boasts very romantic music, with tracks such as Don't let go, nothing i've ever known. THe soundtrack also has a very sad song called Sound The Bugle, which WILL make you cry!

In other films that i have seen, i can always relate any character to any song from this soundtrack!

The songs have beautiful lyrics, and really brings out The West to the listener:

Under the starry skies - where eagles have flown
this place is paradise - its the place i call home.

I ALWAYS listen to this soundtrack at home, with lots of cups of tea, and would definatly reccomend it to ANYONE at ANY age!

Another excellent album from B.A.5
You can't go wrong with a Bryan Adams can you? When I bought this album the other week I didn't have a clue what to expect, but there was one thing I knew - If it had B.A. singing and writing most of the songs there's only one thing you can expect, quality.

Most songs don't really resemble anything that B.A. has released before, but that's a good thing, you don't want the same all of the time, you want an improved and matured side, which you get with this album.

The songs 'You can't take me' and 'Get Off My Back' are truly great rockers which would be stand-out tracks on any album of his, and songs such as 'Here I am' and 'I Will Always Return' rate as good as any balard he has sung or wrote.

Of course this is not just a B.A. album, Hanz Zimmer is a renouned and quality composer which is a sign of B.A.'s maturity within the industry if he is collaborating with someone of this callibre.

Being a soundtrack album makes no difference in this case, it should be treated as a B.A. album to any fan, simply it's a great album - very chilling without being too soft. It actually reminds me od Jon Bon Jovi's soundtrack album 'Blaze of Glory' for the film Young Guns 2, ok an animated film might not be the image of a rock star, but who cares as long as the music's good? I don't.

Great album - Can't wait for the next one!

Fabulous emotion coming to life!!5
I brought the album simply because i'm a mad BA fan....once again i wasn't dissapointed. The lyrics and sound are both excellent, Adams and Zimmer make a great team and when they work together you will get nothing but a great performance. Ok, though the lyrics are a bit cliched, so are all pop and love lyrics, but Bryan's distinctive voice makes all his songs different as he has one of the most emotional and moving voices which fantastically emphasises the feelings of SPIRIT.

If your a BA fan then this album is a must, if you're a horse lover this album is a must, and if your a general music fan who loves their music to be sung with emotion then this is the album for you. I can't wait to see the movie.
