Good, but no title shot....4
WWE Backlash 2002 is a good PPV. There are a few problems. First, the Austin/Undertaker match is pretty slow, but most annoying is the sound. You see, when it came for this DVD to be released, Undertaker had stopped using "Rollin'". This resulted in his music bieng dubbed with a different track (You can confirm this by looking at Flair's aftermatch inteview, where his music on the replay is "Rollin'"). This results in a delay, with the soundtrack about 2 seconds behind for the rest of the DVD, meaning you see things way before you hear them. I tried not to let this spoil my enjoyment of it, but it gets very ammoying very quickly. Highlight: Voodo Child!! Hulk vs HHH is amazing.

Backlash brings list of stars, but struggles to back it up3
WWE Backlash on DVD offers the usual array of extras expected from DVD releases involving wrestling. As a Pay Per View event, these always include the biggest and most famous stars of the wrestling company. This one is the same, providing Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Undertaker, to name but a few. However, it is my opinion that this PPV lacked the level of intensity seen in other WWF/WWE events of the past. A spectacle yes, but not of the same calibre as Wrestlemania 17 or X-8, or the Summerslam series'. There is also a distinct lack of variety in the match styles (no true hardcore, ladder or cage varieties).

The extras include the usual mish-mash of interviews and short trailers and features included in the build-up to the event itself. The inclusion of the match from Heat involving the Big Show is a welcome surprise addition.

Overall, not the classic that the bill would make you believe, but a satisfactorily entertaining event. Worth buying for most wrestling fans, if not... not really a great introductory piece.
