worth a peek i would suggest 3
This is the final WWF event, the very next day the company changed its name to the WWE,that is a little bit of history perhaps, this event was filmed live in london in front of a crowd who were in good form and in fine voice.
The event in truth was an extension of backlash in various guises which occured two weeks prior to this meant we had good feuds and a good calibre of athlete, this was epitomised with the opening match for the WWF intercontiental championship, the holder eddie guerrero went up against rob van dam.The match started at 100 miles per hour as both men threatened to turn this match into a blur,it then slowed down and got technical before speeding up again with some high flying moves and relentless bursts of energy, the ending was the only negative to this match which set the evening up nicely.
A diva tag team match wasnt the best idea in truth but it was up next and seemed to last an eternity, jazz and molly holly went up against trish and jacquline (a dog with lipstick, anyone). This match started ok but got so boring so fast that im shocked the company let it bang on,a genuine mess.
Bradshaw went up against x pac next in a mildly entertaining match, scott hall got involved and made it a bit more interesting,x pac and bradshaw performed well enough even if their respective styles didnt compliment one another.
The hardcore championship was up next as the champ steven richards went up against booker T,this match had no running history at all as it was meant to be richards versus bubba ray but a good enough match occured,it wasnt that brutal in truth but kept the crowd happy enough, the 24/7 element of the title meant that others wanted a chance and this raised the quality slightly so worth a look then.
A tag team match featuring the hardy boyz going up against brock lesnar with shawn stasiak, who despite having a role in the alliance storyline and doing ok looked terrible here,he really did,he couldnt have been any worse. This match had a terrible pace to it and just looked awful, the hardys have rarely had to go up against this kind of team,i was a big fan of brock and he did what he did well but stasiak ruined this,it just smacks of awful, trust me.
The european championship was up next and was a real howler, the champ spike dudley went up against englands own, william regal. The match was short and not so sweet, flip it was bad.
Steve austin fought the big show next, this match was one of the all time smashmouth kind of matches that i can recall seeing, there was little variation in this match,it was stonecold slapping big show and vice versa, big show dominated largely while stonecold had to test his inner resolve and see what he could do,regardless of the match that it was i found it pretty good, others wont agree and thats dead on,but i didnt mind it.
The main event was next, the undertaker went up against triple H in a match that is a whisker or two away from being a classic,it was that good,i dont think anyone expected it to be as good, both men raised their game(not a pun) to a higher standard and we were treated to a great match, simple as that really, worth checking out,the event is pretty good but let down by some poor individual showings,3 stars.
