Amazon.co.uk Review
If you have so far resisted the draw of people-management game, The Sims, then this deluxe pack might just swing the scales. The Sims allows you to create, direct and manage the lives of SimCity's residents. Each need (e.g., Hunger, Comfort, Hygiene) can be met by interacting with other Sims or objects--throw a party with the help of a rocking stereo system, and watch your Sims' Social and Fun ratings improve.
One gameplay goal is to improve your Sim so he or she can climb the career ladder, which nets him or her more money, which allows the purchase of higher quality stuff. Eventually, your Sim will have a mate, kids and a mansion with an indoor pool.
Livin it Up: Whether you're the occasional Sims player or one of the die-hard fan who's seen the one-hundred-hours congratulation message, The Sims--Livin' It Up expansion pack will rekindle any flame starting to go out for this game.
The Sims--Livin' It Up expansion pack has more swings and bells on it than a Christmas tree in a castle, and of course in true Sims style all this is possible. The range of new gadgets and gizmos to play with is just as impressive--and if you are an avid Web fan then you will notice some of the downloads here, especially the gerbil and balloons--but Maxis have realised this and have been busy creating many other features.
New career paths with over 50 jobs have now been included. Become a psychic investigator or a musician, a slacker or a journalist, and they all come with new toys to play with at home. If this isn't enough, the game also includes new neighbourhoods to try out if you've run out of space in the current one, although the only drawback is that you can't move from neighbourhood to neighbourhood.
The Sims--Livin It Up is a great addition to the original, having you completely hooked again in no time, and saving up for those ever elusive expensive items, in this case the automatic robot maid. --Stuart Miles

SimsRMe
If you are thinking about buying the first Sims, i must warn you that it'll prove quite expensive. Not only will you end up devoting a large part of your life to creating your sims lives, you'll probably end up buying most of the expansion packs. You won't care about losing friends in the real world, you'll have your Sims. Your partner has called 7 times wondering where you are today, you won't care because your poor little Sim is having his own relationship problems. Your kitchen burns down, but you can deal with it because your Sims dealt with it only 17 minutes ago and they're coping fine. it may well become your life. I started out wanting to create the ultimate hellhole for my Sims, destitute, miserable and broken, I couldn't do it, i started feeling sorry for them. i was becoming emotional about the little Sim Graphics on the screen. Thats what this game does to you. Buy it, steal it, borrow it. You'll love it.
Put your life on hold.....
...You won't have time for one, if you have this game! This includes the classic Sims game and original expansion pack, Livin' It Up, plus new objects and outfits and The Sims Creator, which allows you to modify your Sims looks/clothes.
Having only played the original Sims game, before I got this, I was impressed by all the extra's that are available in this version, from the opportunity to 'play' in the vibrating bed, to solving the mystery of the crystal ball.
For me, the best thing about the game is that you are constantly aiming for something, once you have got your Sim a job, you think, 'I'll just hang on in here until he is promoted' so you stay and hone up his skills or work on his social life, but get sucked in and several hours later he has been promoted loads of times and is getting quite wealthy, whilst you are now busy trying to get him a girlfriend or experimenting with the chemistry set.
I also like the way each household is a game within itself, but allow the relationships to deteriorate and this can impact on the other families.
One let down is the Sims Creator, which does not give me the scope I would like is designing my own Sims. There are limited new clothing styles, though there are plenty of fabrics.
As a complete addict, I cannot recommend this game high enough if you like sim/god games. If you are more into action games, this probably is not for you (but you can do some nasty things with that chemistry set).
THE SIMS
The Sims is one of the best games ever made and it's no wonder when youactually play the game. You can create your own person or family, thatincludes kids, adults, what ever. Then, after creating a biography, adjusting there looks and there points ie: Outgoing etc then your ready togo. You buy a property, then start building your house. Theres so manyobjects, and i mean hundreds as well as lots and lots of wallpapers, carpets and other important details like that to choose from and insert. Then, you can finnaly start playing. You get to control everything, and imean everything that your Sim does. When your in the game, your sim hasbars like Social and hunger etc. Everytime it's starts to go low, you haveto ring up a friend and talk to them, or dance, or what ever! You canlearn to play pianos and guitars, paint pictures, get jobs, marry Sims, well, theres just absouloutly LOTS of options. You can make your sim sounique and special it's unreal. They'll cry, they'll laugh, they needsleep, they need to go to the toilet, everything. They can even die if youdon't look after them properly. On the job ladder, you can advance or bepromoted in all kinds of fields from Military to Waitering...
Oneof my all time favourite games and i'm sure it'll be one of yours too.Hope this review helps. THANKS
