Amazon.co.uk Review
The popular first-person deathmatch frag-fest is back, but this time on the Xbox. The game that revolutionised the first-person shooter on the PC is once again doing what it does best and immersing you in a fast-paced action-packed adrenaline rush.
Gameplay follows the same style that hardened gamers will recognise, however Epic Games has done a lot to improve the game for the Xbox. New levels, new game types--all fully customisable--and special moves designed specifically for the Xbox give plenty of options to play with. Players now have a number of choices available to them; single player, tutorial, instant action and Live play.
The Live option, is of course the main crux of this game and connecting to the Xbox servers brings a host of other players to challenge and an endless supply of unpredictable gameplay ahead of you.
If you have time to notice the graphics of this game, then you obviously aren't getting into enough fights. That said, the Unreal Championship world is very impressive with the Xbox ably coping with numerous players and heavy action on the screen at the same time.
Likewise the sound, with its almost perfect 3-D soundscape of stray fire, pick-ups and taunts will make you feel you are right in the thick of the action.
Like Halo, this is a benchmark game for the Xbox. In that it has the same sense of actually giving the gamer what they want. If you need to fill 30 minutes of frag-tastic mindless mayhem then is the game for you. --Jason Denwood

A New Classic...Nice
What a game,
UC is without a doubt a must buy for any Xbox owner.
Graphics are excellent and are exactly what you'd expect from an Xbox. Gameplay is brilliant with enough gamemodes to keep you busy for a long while and when Xbox Live is launched in the UK it will go even further. Bombing run is particularly good, passing a ball/bomb between teammates and detonating it in the enemy base, cool.
Sound on the game is equally good. However, I would have liked to see a custom soundtrack option.
Apart from this one set back it is a great game.
Theres some lovely detail in the maps and the smoke dissipation is not to be missed.
Any First Person shooter fan should own this game.
Buy it, you wont be dissapointed
you should wait for xbox live
Well this game is the one of the first to be xbox live enabled. But with xbox live not available at the moment there doesnt seem to be much point buying it now as you are just deathmatch fragging in single player
Playing this game on your own is very good, but it does feel like a scaled down version of unreal tournament 2003 on pc. That game was awesome and so is this. The levels are mostly just slightly modifed versions and weapons are reskined. It does feel rather short as well but an instant action mode allows for replay value.
Graphically the game is very nice, but there are lots of areas where slowdown occurs from just walking around.
overall a great game, excels in multiplayer, but lacks sparkle in single player
Astonishing!
Unreal Championship is one of the greatest online games to be created. Graphics are unrivalled and will have PC owners twiddling their thimbs, trying not to be impressed. Over 25 characters and arenas to play in, 5 different types of game to play, and it's Xbox exclusive, meaning it surpasses everything seen on other formats.
The single player game is a load of fun, and CPP-controlled bots are clever and act almost as good as real people. But of course, there is no substitute for the real thing. XBOX LIVE!!! Words are inadequate to describe the experience, but as I've got nothing else, I'll give it a go. You can enter a game with just a few buton presses via the Quick Match option, but you will probably want Optimatch. With it you can set the difficulty level, map, etc. to suit your needs. Playing up to 16 players on Team Deathmatch is the stuff dreams are made of. Some people say that Xbox is a poor mans online gaming system, but Unreal Championship surpasses anything I have played on my PC (and I have broadband!) I suggest everyone buys Unreal and Xbox Live beacause it is a great bargain and online gaming is the way of the future.
Overall, this is a game on a par with Halo for sheer fun and quality. Should be part of every Xbox owners game collection, Xbox Live user or not.
