Whether you live to hang 10 or haven't put a toe in the water since Jaws, put your life on hold, because you won't be able to tear yourself away from Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer. Expecting the same old trick-based console game? Forget it, and prepare yourself for the rich kind of gameplay found too rarely in the gaming market.

Pro Surfer's scenario development alone breaks it out of the pack. Whether it's the beaches' loading screens that feature Slater's voiceover inviting you into the scenario or the entertaining, attainable goals, this game sets a new standard for the genre. Pro Surfer's superb graphics and mood-setting background music ensure you'll have your way with the waves.

One caution: The dozens of manoeuvres listed in the manual can be daunting. Fortunately, Pro Surfer provides a clever tutorial to ease you into the gameplay and soften the relatively steep learning curve. Spend a few minutes with the tutorial and you'll be shooting curls and ripping 360s that not only "beat the local," but also make you genuinely proud of your accomplishments. The only decent surfing game available...still
This game is superb, good graphics and gameplay and big selection of different levels from the indoor wavehouse to g-land and other exotic locations. This game is produced by the same company that made the more famous tony hawk's pro skater range, but do not be fooled this is not just skateboarding on water, it has a very different feel. On the different levels there are a number of objectives (similar to pro skater) e.g. achieve a certain score, run over the bodyboarders, jump the pier that kind of thing. It is also similar to pro skater in the way that you unlock new boards and new characters. The back of the case claims that you'll never ride 'the same wave twice' this may not be entirely true but there is certainly a lot of variation in the waves even on the same level in terms of hight, speed, and direction. Before this game was released i had been longing for a surfing game but the ones that were available were seriously poor and i wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole. Kelly slater's pro surfer though really is a great game that i come back to time and time again. It's just a shame that a sequel hasn't been brought out because i think it's a concept that could be taken much further however until that day this is the best your gonna get.

Kelly Slater's pro surfer is a really great game because there are tons of different tricks, the waves are mainly different, there are loads of surfers, and this game also has the best and most well known surf spots in the world including Jaws, Pipeline, J-Bay and Mavericks.
