Amazon.co.uk Review
When Joey Jordinson, the diminutive drummer of Slipknot, has time off from Iowa's finest, he straps on a guitar as one of the Murderdolls--a pulp-rawk five-piece that draws inspiration from slasher flicks, Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister on Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls. Boasting song titles like "She Was A Teenage Zombie" and "Kill Miss America", it's fair to say that this debut isn't to be taken completely seriously. But the trash-metal aesthetic is firmly entrenched in the annals of rock & roll, and it's this very vein that the Murderdolls are out to suck from. Jordinson and Tripp Eisen of industrial metal freaks Static X form a double-pronged guitar assault that simultaneously evokes the flamboyant fretwork of glam-metal and the gutsy roar of the Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, but the focus is surely on singer Wednesday 13--a super-camp frontperson that sings lyrics like "I'd rather cut you than the wedding cake / Your bloody guts on my rented tux" ("Die My Bride") in a voice that sounds like Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil after the overdose. It's a brave move, but if the sound of 1980s hair-metal prompts an involuntary sneer, you may find the joke here quickly wears thin. --Louis Pattison

CD Description
Debut album by side-project of Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, here playing guitar. Originally called the Rejects and also featuring ex-Frankenstein Drag Queens singer Wednesday 13 and Static-X's Tripp Eisen, this is unashamedly retro, sleazy glam-punk in the vein of Motley Crue, Twisted Sister andthe Misfits.

Beyond the valley of Slipknot5
It would be very difficult to review this album without first mentioning Slipknot, The Murderdolls are the brainchild of Joey Jordison from Slipknot and Trip Eisen (Static X.) The album is however nothing like the metal giants, with songs like Die my bride, B-movie scream queen and Kill Miss America, the whole thing is a tribute to old horror movies and takes its influence more from the Frankenstein Drag Queens from the planet 13, of which singer Wednesday 13 is the singer of the Murderdolls.

The album reverts back to its roots and whilst listening to the songs the lyrics are devilishly funny. Just buy this record if you want rock music merged with horror movies, and there is nothing like this out there today and hell its just good music, so buy it anyway. It's worth it just to hear the song 'die my bride:'

"i'd rather cut you up than the wedding cake"

superb!5
With Murderdolls being the side project of members of Slipknot and Static-X, I expected this album to be very heavy, featuring crushing guitar riffs and messed up lyrics. However it's an easy listening album that you couldn't really call metal, but more punk-metal. The lyrics are funny and the riffs light but brilliantly played. It's also surprising that Joey Jordison plays guitars in this band, unlike his trademark drumming as he does in Slipknot. The drumming however could have been taken from Joey playing in Slipknot as it's very heavy in places.

The album starts with the song 'Slit my wrist' which is an awesome opening song and sets the tone for the rest of the album. It's got a brilliant riff, great drumming and solid lyrics. One thing you will notice from the start is how similar Wednesday 13's voice is to Marilyn Manson. However this isn't a bad thing as it adds depth to the music, as a true screaming voice such as Corey Taylor of Slipknot would probably ruin the comedy of the lyrics.

Probably one thing that makes this album so good id variety. Although the songs are all quite light and funny, they are all different in their own ways. Each riff and melody is original and some songs such as 'People hate me' and 'Die my bride' are almost legends in their own right as they mix very heavy druming and guitar riffs with funny lyrics, which make the songs very good indeed. The only problem with the album is the ends of nearly all the songs follow a similar pattern of chorus/guitar solo/chorus.

On the whole this is a superb album and if you're a fan of heavy punk, light metal, Joey Jordison, Tripp Eisen or Marilyn Manson you should consider buying this album and i guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Amazing first album from the dolls5
This album is a brilliant album for those who dont like their music too serious. The songs are instantly catchy and you can sing a long to them from the go. This is a combination of goth, thrash and general rock/metal and all the tracks are fast and entertaining. Wednesday 13's sarcastic lyrics are the best part of the album which also contains quality musicianship. Highlights include "lets go to war", "Die my bride" and "People hate me" but every song is good and easy to listen to. A must for anyone who is into Wednesday 13 and/or his Frankenstein Drag Queens. However not an album for those who want serious deep music and despite sharing a band member it sounds nothing like slipknot. Enjoy - i did!
