Customer Reviews

Superb Soul Singer4
The majority of people will have heard of Will Downing as he’s been around a long time having been a session singer with Rose Royce and Billy Ocean.

His biggest hits were in the late eighties with Love Supreme and his interpretation of Denice Williams’s Free.

This is a mid price offering of some of his more popular hits/covers and would be filed in the soul jazz category.

The collection includesthe hits you would expect John Coltranes, A love Supreme which is one of my favourite records of all time, the love we share, giving it all to you a superb slice of soul with a killer bass line in the background. The best covers are Free, wishing on a star, and the world is a ghetto.

Will has the same talent as Luther when it comes to covers; he always adds something new to the song.

If you’ve never heard of Will Downing this is a perfect opportunity to get acquainted, and to see why he’s up there compared with the likes of Teddy Pendergrass and Luther, and the fact he’s been around over 20 years must mean he has talent.

Good value for money 4 stars.

A surprise pleasure5
I hadn't actually heard a great deal of Will Downing albums, but have to say this was fantastic, not the sort of album you would want to boogie the night away with but definately a hot bath and glass of wine album, chilling out to the wonderful sounds of Mr Downing, worth every penny and well chilled after listerning to this.
