Amazon.co.uk Review
The title of TLC's latest album, 3D catapults us straight into the story of the death of Left Eye. The trio's most talented member was killed in a car crash in 2002. Though an accident, her death came as little surprise considering the wild life she'd been living prior to the sad event. 3D doesn't wallow in sadness--TLC were never about that. Not with hits such as "No Scrubs" and "Waterfalls", and simple but positive tracks such as "Unpretty". Left Eye recorded much of this latest album before her death and appears on five tracks. The problem today's reduced TLC face is to stay up to date in an R&B market that has suddenly switched up a gear after several years of stagnation. Tracks such as "Turntable" and "So So Dumb" are musically out of date, left behind by recent hits such as Redman's "React", Missy's "Work It" and Truth Hurts' "Addictive". 3D is probably the sweetest work by TLC yet; there's no "Silly Ho" here but that doesn't make it the most palatable. They've matured yes, but have they taken risks? No. Lead single "Girl Talk" is funky and catchy but it's not innovative in the way TLC have been in the past. In truth they can no longer reach the high standards they set before. Losing a band member has been a terrible blow, however much remaining members Chilli and T-Boz smile through it. Unfortunately it shows in the work. --Jake Barnes
CD Description
TLC's fourth album is the last to feature the late Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes, who died in a car crash shortly before its completion. Continuing in much the same vein as its predecessor 'Fanmail', this is a blend of sassy, funky urban soul and RnB grooves featuring production work by the Neptunes, Organized Noize, Timbaland and Missy Elliott, who also makes a guest appearance on vocals.

Gone but never forgotton
Although TLC suffered the tragic event of band member Lisa Left Eye Lopes' death earlier this year, group members Tionne T-Boz Watkins and Rozonda Chilli Thomas have managed to create yet another masterpiece. With cuts such as the first single 'girl talk' and babyface produced 'hands up' the album will have u mesmorised from start to finish. Including a touching tribute to Lisa in 'turntable' a Rodney Jerkins produced song and working with producers such as Missy Elliot and Timberland, long time producer Dallas Austin and of the moment Neptunes this album is a must have for any hip hop rnb fan. Lisa Left Eye Lopes may have gone she will always live on with her music and never be forgotton.
Excellent!!
I was skeptical of this album as Lisa was my favourite member of TLC and I beleive that she was the most creative and innovative member of the group. However I was pleasantly surprised. I like every song, except Hands Up which doesn't really go anywhere. The first single 'Girl Talk' plus Quickie, Over Me, Dirty Dirty and Hey Hey Hey Hey are my favourites. My only qualm is that Lisa is on four songs but on two of those songs her raps are lifted from her solo album 'Supernova' so the album only contains two original Lisa raps but this isn't too bad (hopefully some raps are being saved for single remixes and the greatest hits album). Looking at the amazon review, I'm pleased in a way that TLC isn't the same without Lisa. It would be a shame to think that her loss had little impact on the group.
This Is How It Should Be Done!
Its been three long years since the last album but TLC are back with their best album to date. 'Fanmail' was a great album but couldn't compete with the previous tunes from 'CrazySexyCool'. However, the new album '3D' has succeeded the previous albums with style. '3D' has a vast range of different vibes, making the whole album addictive listening; with emotional tunes such as 'turntable' to the jumpin' track with Missy which'll be off the hook in a club. The intro gets the party started with a beat that couldn't keep anyone from bouncin', proving that TLC are fresh and are still the best R'n'B girl group around. '3D' makes a mockery of other groups albums, which only have a few tracks that have any strength to be released as singles. No need for skipping tracks with '3D', personally, the weakest track is 'In your arms tonight' produced by 'The Neptunes' and that's saying something! TLC prove that they can still kick it, showing the music industry how it should be done. With the amount of drama that Chilli and T-Boz have been through, the release of the album '3D' is inspirational. One things for sure, the memory of Left eye will never be forgotten, and will live strong through the music of TLC.
