Manufacturer's Description
Syberia is a journey of discovery and understanding, inspired by a bygone era. Kate Walker, a young and brilliant lawyer from New York, has come to Europe to negotiate the purchase a famous robot/toy factory, but will soon have her future completely turned upside down. The owner of the factory, Anna Voralberg, has just died. Anna's heir, her brother Hans, who is a genius inventor, has been missing for decades, lost somewhere between the Alps and Siberia; Kate must find this enigmatic man to finalise the deal. But, in her journey from the West to the East, she will progressively discover and understand the reasons which have made Hans leave his family and never return.

Syberia - PS2
Great game if you like solving puzzles - a little frustrating in places as you have to keep going back to characters having talked to one to get further information. Especially at the University when you have to keep going back and forth between the station and the university.
Graphics great and easy to move Kate Walker around but too easy to find objects - don't really have to search hard enough for them.
Once you get into the thinking of the writers becomes too easy could do with some more twists and turns.
Any real adventure game buffs will enjoy but it won't take long to solve - if you have a spare 24 hours or less.
Ending disappointing - hopefully they will do a follow on which will be a little harder.
One of My All Time Favourite Adventures
The graphics of Syberia are so beautifully depicted you will feel icy cold as you play through this wonderful point and click adventure set in the blizzard strewn landscapes of Europe. You take the part of Kate Walker who initially is trying to sew up a sales deal on an unusual automaton toy factory but soon abandons her materialistic mission when she discovers there is more than meets the eye to the whole affair. The mysterious circumstances of the situation soon sweeps around you like a snowstorm, and you will be very quickly immersed in trying to discover why the factory is being sold when the presumed deceased heir to the property, is leaving you an intriguing trail to follow....
This isn't the longest game ever, but it is one of those games that grabs your heart and drags you inside to follow it through to its' conclusion. The characters are deeply evolved and their history explained at length so you can really get to know them as one of your own "friends". The puzzles are cleverly constructed and leave you scratching your scalp. You absolutely must play this first and then the sequel, ingeniously titled "Syberia 2"...! to complete the entire story. A must for any adventurer's collection. It will always have a prime position on my "Shelf of Honour" of adventuring masterpieces.
Traditional Adventure Gaming
I have, and probably always will be, a big fan of the traditional adventue game. Syberia fits firmly in to this genre and provides a fine example to future game developers; the old styles of gameplay can still work. Plenty of puzzles, an absorbing storyline and no combat or spells in sight!
Some reviewers have commmented the game is too short or easy. While I would agree to some extent, I wouldn't use those words. I spent a couple of weeks, playing for an hour or two a night, to complete this game; I think this is quite reasonable.
Personally I loved the storyline and thoroughly enjoyed the way the myseries unfolded throughout.
Don't forget to check out the sequel, Syberia 2, which is equally good and finishes the story off nicely...
