Not her best, but still well worth a listen
Mariah hasnt been the same since the days of Daydream and Butterfly, but I am still a HUGE fan. Mariah's power ballads on this album are great with my favourite being the Def leopard cover "Bringing on the heartbreak". Other songs which are well worth listening to are, "Through the Rain", "Subtle Invitation", "My Saving Grace" and "Clown". Overall this is a great album.
made it through the rain, but didn't regain her throne again
ok, when u tihnk of mariah, you think bug power ballad's and classics and the voice, this album is nothing to her old big sellers, its much better then the flop of Glitter, but this still fails to deliver good's, most song's are jsut her whispering with rapper's that don't help at all. there is an amazing song on this, " My Saving Grace' the song is amazing, if this would have been her comeback maye it would have sold more then 3million worldwide, her rendition of bringign on the heartache is amazing, and that's about it, 3 or 4 good songs, i only bought it with it being in the sale. maybe mariah's day is over, i hope she does better on next effort but she will always be remembered, daydream?
Charming new Mariah style
Charmbracelet begins where Glitter ended: it's a new CD in the new Mariah style. It has beautiful ballads, like its first single "Through The Rain" (which has some similarity to the wonderful "Music Box"), "I Only Wanted", "My Saving Grace" and Def Leppard cover "Bringin' On The Heartbreak", but Mariah's voice is not as strong as is used to be, it sounds as if she were whispering all the time. However, Mariah's ballads are usually good, and so are these, including her saddest song ever, "Sunflowers for Alfred Roy", inspired by the death of her father.
The uptempo songs are good, too, "Irresistible" and "You Had Your Chance" are two highlights of the album. Luckily, there are not as much guest rappers as on her previous album.
My favorite song is "Lullaby", which is a follow-up to Butterfly album highlight "The Roof".
