Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Compiled via a fan survey conducted on her Web site, Björk's Greatest Hits eschews presenting the tracks in chronological order, making for a jumbled ride through the vocalist's unique, twisted and frequently brilliant discography. A few welcome surprises surface, including EP remixes, a rarity (the 1993 David Arnold collaboration "Play Dead") and the previously unreleased "It's in Our Hands," a clever blip-pop number that would have fit nicely on either 1997's Homogenic or 2001's Vespertine. Starting off with a dreamy remix of "All Is Full of Love", the collection contrasts giddy dance-pop such as "Hyperballad" (from the wonderful Post) with the brooding thump of "Army of Me" and Debut's "Human Behaviour", while injecting liberal doses of experimental ballads such as "Joga" and "Pagan Poetry". Some choices will grate on the nerves of purists (the sans strings mix of "Hyperballad"), and it would have been nice to hear something from Selmasongs, but with Björk's incredibly consistent discography to work from, it's impossible to screw up a retrospective compilation such as this. --Matthew Cooke

Björk's magical music journey 1993 - 2002
The singles from Björk's first four albums are collected here in the form of a Greatest Hits collection.
Not all of them are included however, one of the various omission (like it or not) is "It's Oh So Quiet" from Post as well as others. "All Is Full of Love" and "Big Time Sensuality" appear here remixed, presumably which is how they were when released as singles.
Includes a new track "It's in Our Hands" which sounds like an outtake from the wonderful Vespertine. A great start for Björk beginners or Greatest Hits compilation collectors.
Pop songs of the highest quality
If you are like me and have a strong respect for Bjork but have never felt compelled to buy all her records this serves as an excellent summary of her career´s finest works.
"All is full of love," with it´s low-key sensitive lyrics blends excellently with the strings and effects. It´s a nice opener. I love,"Hyperballad," this track really builds nicely at the end, whereras Bjork doesn´t change the pitch of her voice. Other highlights are the rangy strings on,"Bachelorettee," the pounding drum beat of,"Hunter," and the slickly worded pop of,"Bigtime sensuality."
Bjork has always angled between the alternative and euphoric pop, something that males her music very versatile. I really like the passion and force of her voice on,"play dead," I wouldn´t usually warm to songs like this, but it´s got something special. Bjork, both lyrically and stylisticly adds her only little twist to things that mark her out from her peers.
The music has a panoramic quality to it, Bjork´s tracks always sound intense and dramatic, sometimes the music can be a little over the top but she invariably hits the spot. A unique voice and well worthy of it´s five stars this.
suck it and see -a dance classic
Never having heard much of bjorks music.i was a fan of the sugarcubes,so when oh so quiet came out and every five year old loved it,i thought,i would give her a wide berth.
how wrong could i be .with that distinctive voice and great dance rhythms, all these songs are classics, from the chill out of all is full of love and joga,to the dancing beat of big time sensuality and army of me.with my personal favourite play dead,
this album is a fantastic eclectic mix of music,
bjork,as with me,will collar a few more fans, with this album
a classic album that will be played to death.
