Amazon.co.uk Review
On her third album This Is Me…Then, Jennifer Lopez shows she's just as fickle as her ex, Sean "Puffy" Combs, when it comes to changing names and musical personas. She abandons the impish J-Lo moniker for the plain and simple "Jenny".
Lopez insists that she is still the same down-to-earth girl that emerged from the Bronx a decade before mega-stardom hit: "I used to have a little / now I have a lot," she chirps, before cautioning: "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got / I'm still Jenny from the block." Such a claim stretches credulity given her well-documented status as a true diva, but "Jenny from the Block" shows more pizzazz and humour than anything else on the album, with the exception of her saucy duet with LL Cool J on "All I Have."
Elsewhere This Is Me…Then serves up a recycled paean to 1970s soul, an anaemic cover of Carly Simon's "You Belong to Me" and cloying ballads inspired by Lopez's new inamorato, actor Ben Affleck. Lopez dedicated the disc--for which she wrote nine songs--to Affleck and she includes a far-too-personal and gooey love song to him titled "Dear Ben". Here she declares: "You'll always be my lust, my love, my man, my child, my friend and my king." There's plenty of love here, but what's missing is the verve and crackle of Lopez's earlier stuff. --Jaan Uhelszki

The Mind Boggles
I don't usually do negative reviews, but I find it hard not to when listening to this woman, and looking at the success she gets through awful music, with her awful voice, keeping the real talent out.
Now its going to be easy to slate this short review, but keep this in mind - i am looking at ther music, not her body parts which I am afraid to say are her only asset.
How anyone can buy this album and enjoy it for its musically content is beyond me.
"Jenny from the block" is the worst single I have head in many a year. It is up there with the likes of a "Cheeky Girls" track. "Jenny from the block" was quite rightly put in the top 10 of the worst pop singles of all time on a Channel 4 top 100 list.
"I'm Glad" is soppy, well produced but damn right awful - why? because Jennifer Lopez cannot sing.
English talent such as Terri Walker and Beverley Knight can sing. But they are not movie starts who have big budgets to make major videos and marry movie stars.
Jennifer Lopez is a fraud - her voice on "Baby I love U" is nothing short of a joke. When listening to it, I thought someone was having me on. What makes it worse is I believe a good vocalist could really do something with this well written track.
Why is she called rnb? Rythem & Blues is what it stands for. She has money so she can do what she wants.
But as a soul music fan this album, her voice, and her ego makes me wonder how on earth she has the success in the music business she does.
It's a grower..
On first hearing this album I was shocked - the urban vibes and attitude that define J-Lo have been limited to two f fantastic songs; 'Jenny From The Block', and the bonus track 'I'm Gonna Be Alright', escapees from the 'J To Tha Lo' album.
So what are we then left with? Well Jennifer has gone all Faith Hill on us! I had this discarded album dumped in a drawer from when I first bought it on its first day of release. Having since played it a few times I have found a few jems amongst the obvious filler tracks. 'I'm Glad, 'The One' (both versions) and 'All I Have' are enjoyable tracks well worth a listen, while 'Baby I Love U' and 'Still' are both also better then the average.
This smoother, more relaxed style is a change which may disappoint the casual listener, but I'm sure that won't stop the masses from enjoying TIM...T.

This is me..then...I wish
I am not a Jennifer hater In fact I am one of her biggest fans. I got on the six, J.LO, J to tha L-O and her feeling so good DVD all of which I totally recomend and they sit proudly near the top of my CD pile but this latest offering is gonna stay at the bottom. Jennifer I am so disapointed in you! Why JLO has chosen ditched the uptempo latin house beats which I and many others loved her for. she was such a great artist even my parents loved jennifers music. Yes I love R'N B and Hip hop loved the Ja rule things on J to tha LO. But thats when they were fresh and original but to make a whole album full of these mid tempo repetitive tracks is now just boring! I bought this on the strengh of her prevoius work and the single Jenny from the block which Is the best song on the album and thats saying something because its not that good itself.
the only tracks worth listening to are Still, loving you and all I have. There is nothing fresh, new or original on this album which honestly makes it such a disapointment. dont expect 'play' or 'waiting for tonight' and expect a collection of forgetable ballads!
Dont bother with this because there is so much better stuff out there: stripped by christina aguilera or sugababes 'angels with dirty faces' I'm now gonna cry and wait till Jennifer brings out the real her then.
