A compilation of the first three Phantasy Star games, Phantasy Star Chronicles brings classic SF RPG gaming to the Game Boy Advance. This RPG series revolutionised the genre with immersive 3-D dungeons, huge environments to explore and hours of gameplay.
Phantasy Star: as Alis Landale it's up to you to defeat King Lassic and the evil his reign has brought to the galaxy. With a party of three, you will travel the vast Algo Solar System doing battle against Lassic's minions with a myriad of weapons, magical spells and armour.
Phantasy Star II: the planet Mota is facing danger once again. An unknown evil is overtaking the planet and everything is affected by it--the climate, the machinery, even nature. As Rolf, you must unlock the mystery behind this dark force and restore the peace to the planet. With a party of three, you'll become an outlaw, travel to a distant planet, and battle monsters on your epic journey.
Phantasy Star III: dark forces still remain. Conquer these monstrous mutations by fighting them with swords, knives, bow and even your wits as you embark on a journey so vast it spawns three generations. You'll trek through seven distant lands to reach one of four surprise endings.

Classic roleplaying
These three games are real classics when it comes to RPGs. The port to the GBA seems to be perfect, which is why I give them 5 stars They are classics with reason, the gameplay (classic RPG: talk to people, explore caves and dungeons, gain levels, gather companions, learn spells) is really great and the stories (a nice blend of scifi and fantasy about three planets, corruption by evil, a dark secret of the second planet and strive between magic and technology) quite good, although I can imagine that some people will find them old-fashioned. All three games have their own unique style and in my opinion they look really good on the GBA. They do take some effort to get into, but once you've gained the first few levels and gotten a grip on the story, the games won't let go and you wish you could play all three of them at the same time especially because they are so different. If you are a big fan of RPGs or classic games then this is a must buy (especially considering that it's three games in one). To close: the thing I like best about these games is reliving my childhood memories of playing PSII, but my memories aren't yours, so the best recommendation for these games is the sheer amount of great story-driven gameplay that this cartridge holds.
Phantasy Star Chronicals-What a blast from the past!
I remember bunking off school about ten years ago so that I could play Phantasy Star two(not that I condone that sort of behaviour!)So imagine my surprise when I saw the entire series on one cartridge at my local import shop. I bought it straight away and got stuck in!
Some people might find the graphics a bit plain and simple, but you have to remember that this is one of the first turn based RPG's on consoles at the time. The Gameplay is spot on, with good puzzles, excellent battle sequences and a great story line that carries on through all three titles. Perhaps the best innovation is in the third game, where at the end of the first quest, you must choose to marry one of two lovely ladies. This choice causes the game to take different paths as you then control the children of the original characters. This happens through three generations, allowing up to four possible endings. The only gripe I have with this GBA version is the lack of a map for Phantasy star two-this game is HUGE, and some people might struggle without one. So, if you love RPG's I recommend you buy this to see how it all started and also because it is an absolute classic.
