Synopsis
Led by drummer Jon Hiesman, Colosseum were at the forefront of the jazz-rock scene at the end of the 1960's. This disc captures them in 1994... their first live performance for 23 years! A documentary tracing the history of the band is also included.

Colosseum Lives5
I followed Colosseum for the full three years of their existence and still have all the vinyl albums, so what a revelation to see actual footage of a great band, performing their own style of music in a more comfortable and professional manner. They have improved with age like a good wine.

This DVD has all their best tracks with my favourite being Lost Angeles which exploits Chris Farlowe's voice to the full. I also enjoyed the fun he had with Stormy Monday Blues.

I had almost forgotten how good they were as individual musicians, especially Clem on guitar, he belongs up there with the best.

I remember seeing Dick Heckstall-Smith with Barbara Thompson in a pub in Bath in 1971 playing some astounding jazz.

When Chris Farlowe joined the band I had mixed feelings as the direction did change a little, but he is a class act and belongs with the band. He is without doubt one of the best white soul/blues singers around.

A great DVD for Colosseum fans and also for anyone interested in a jazz/rock fusion of a very unique style.

Heaven revisited5
I was fortunate enough to see Colosseum in 1971 just before they folded and the memories still remain from a superb evening of entertainment. I approached this DVD with some trepidation as previous concert DVDs had left me cold with poor sound, camera work or just a poor band performance. To my utter delight, this is not the case here. I was smiling through the whole 90 minutes of a marvellous concert.
The six members of the band are highly gifted musicians in their own right, but in this format they gel together beautifully. The performance is so polished it is difficult to believe this was only their second concert after 23 years. Many of the numbers are an actual improvement on the live performances of 23 years ago and always give the impression of virtuosity within the framework of all the well known numbers.
All the favourites of yesteryear are here. Even if you are not a Colosseum fan, buy this DVD to watch the supreme musicianship of the band members at work individually and collectively.
As if the concert on its own is not enough, there's a full 90 minute documentary on the life of Colosseum with lots of excellent vintage footage. This is rivetting stuff.
I just cannot say anything negative about this DVD. It is everything I had hoped for and more. Sound, picture and camera work are excellent and it is the next best thing to being there.
Don't think about it, just BUY IT!!

Errrrr, WOW and WOW again !!5
I have literally just finished watching this DVD, and in glorious 5.1, and can honestly say that it is probably one of the finest examples of live music i have ever seen, and i`ve seen and heard a lot!
The sound quality is amazing, the set is atmospheric without blinding lights or gimics. Anyway enough of that, basically if you know the original line up, you will be delighted. It goes to show that even some twenty years on they are still as tight as ever, and Heismans "master class" is not only phenomenal, it really is breathtaking (watch and you will see what i mean) as are the rest of the group on their respective instruments.

I could go on, but there is no point, it lasts for nearly 2 hours, and you wont want to leave even for a second! It would be a mistake to let this gem go, so just buy it :>)
