Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Florida's mega platinum Matchbox Twenty prove with their third album, More than You Think You Are, to be far more versatile than expected, comfortably outlasting the predictions of naysayers. Reuniting with producer Matt Serletic, the quintet takes credible swings at gospel ("Downfall" features a choir), Traveling Wilburys-type twang ("All I Need"), and big-arena rock with "Disease", cowritten by singer Rob Thomas and Mick Jagger and winkingly recalling Thomas's star turn with Carlos Santana on "Smooth". Pedal-steel great Greg Leisz spruces up several tracks, notably the tearjerker "Hand Me Down", while producer and keyboardist Serletic and percussionist Paul Doucette sprinkle instrumental pixie dust. More than You Think You Are isn't likely to appease critics, who have consistently accused Matchbox Twenty of yelling when a whisper would do, but fans of the group are certain to dig these panoramic songs, each drawn in broad, vivid strokes. --Kim Hughes

Customer Reviews

awesome group always remind me of good times5
Matchbox 20 are gr8 and deserve a break in the UK. I have been going to Florida on holiday now since 2003 and every year i hear "Unwell" on the radio time and time again. A truley fantastic track and always reminds me of the good times i have in the states.

Not as good as previous albums2
I was really disappointed with this album. It doesn't compare in quality to Yourself or Somebody Like You. There is none of the rawness or feeling that was visable from the first album. Its more like a 'Rob Thomas' album than a Matchbox 20 one. A lot of the tracks are very samey. Big shame!

FANTASTIC ALBUM!5
This is the only M20 album I've had the pleasure of listening to. I first heard "Unwell", an amazingly well written tune about confusion and despair, around 2 years ago and the name Matchbox Twenty remained in my head. This year, I finally purchased More Think You Are, selecting this album as I knew that "Unwell featured in the track listing. I have a habit of always listening to the songs I know before trying the rest of the album, and although this was true in this instance, Rob Thomas' voice is as ever such an attraction that I'm very well accustomed with the entire album already! Divine lyrics to have also come from Rob Thomas, a fine example being the opening lines of "The Difference" set to a wonderful melodious tune. All I Need is also a fantastic tune: "Talking 'bout the dream like the dream is over, talk like that won't get you nowhere", it's a wonderfully deep tune and the rest of the album is an utter joy; the recording in itself, especially when I realised Thomas wrote/co-wrote the entire album, being a great persusaion in purchasing Thomas's solo album. 5*, excellent; am utterly in love with this album! I recommend to anyone who appreciates a good voice and just hope that the rest of M20's album's rate as well as this one!
