Must have for Broadband Xbox Gamers
Xbox live is a must have for anyone who owns an Xbox and has broadband as it really adds a new dimension to any Live enabled games. Gone are split screens or dragging your Xbox and a spare telly to your mates house - now you can beat each other up in the comfort of your own house! The communicator allows you to shout and scream at teammates or enemies alike and sounds great - adding something new again.
Check with your ISP first as there are some that have 'problems' with the Live service (the big three - BT, Telewest and ntl don't generally). However, there is one with three letters starting with A that does have a problem and you cannot use it at the moment. Check out the Xbox web site for updates and help with buying routers or any other kit to get the most out of it and then enjoy.
XBOX LIVE - IS IT REALLY THAT GOOD?
Well the answer is YES!
it is!
i have been testing Xbox Live now for a good few months and i havent put it down!
The games are brilliant and the quality and effort that has obvioulsy been put in are amazing.
Moto GP has had me playing online til all hours of the morning!, Unreal Championship is amazingly fast with no slowdown and practically no lag (network slowdown for those who dont know) whatsoever.
Other great online games already available include Ghost Recon, an amazing game with great online team games and excellent multiplayer action even with system link.
Then theres Mech Assault! this is also a great game!
Now to the technical bits and bobs!
it couldnt be easier!
my particular setup is using a 10port hub, and an NTL Broadband connection.
It took literally 5 minutes to setup! its all very simple, and uses DHCP for assinging automatic IP addresses.
Once you are connected, you simply input your credit card details, this is for confirmation of who you are (no money is taken).
The voice part of this service is awesome! no crackly voices, no missing out on what people say! its as clear as a telephone call, all the time! If you have kids who will use it you can enable certain safety guards. One of thse is the option to give feedback, good or bad, about certain players.
if they are rude, swear, or threaten you then you can let microsoft know and they will take appropriate action.
All in all, it is very well presented with great game and voice capabilities.
I recommend you get it!
And for ...[the price] .....you cant go wrong!
HAIL TO THE KING BABY
What can i say about xbox live, you pay for a box which gives u a whole years worth of xbox live and a cool headset so u can shout abuse at people as they overtake u on motogp, or tell ur mate to go take out some snipers who keep killing u. i hooked my xbox through my pc's ethernet card and enabled internet sharing(no hub needed) and was playing for 8 straight hours. its utterly amazing and adds a whole new dimension to console gaming. you have to at least experiece it, the only bad thing is that u need a broadband connection and if u live in remote places its more than likely its not availble :( electricity companies are trialing broadband through ur electricity points as the lack of broadband is the only thing i believe keeping uk gamers from signing up. hopefully it will be available to us all as i would like to see more uk gamers online as theres to many Amercians. so if u have an xbox and have broadband get xbox live and come get some yanks ;).
