Amazon.co.uk Review
There was a sense with 2000's Northern Star that the former Spice Girl Melanie C was trying out a new persona. With its swinging backbeat and Southern style horns, Reason is smoother, more mature, less eclectic. Like a female Robbie Williams, Melanie C is going for the classic pop soul sound that best suits her voice. There are layered guitars and rock choruses, but she never gets lost in the mix. She has cowritten each song with a production team that includes Marius de Vries and Pat McCarthy, and created a thoughtful, personal set. On the title track, for instance, a piano-led song with a jazzy tinge, she sings about being the reluctant lover wanting to be overwhelmed, while on the languid "Do I", she asks hopefully: "Am I the one / Who makes you come undone?" She resurrects the rock chick for the more brazen "Yeh Yeh Yeh", yet this is executed, it seems, with tongue firmly in cheek. --Lucy O’Brien
CD Description
'Reason' is the follow up to Melanie C's debut album 'Northern Star' which was released in 1999. This album has a more mature sound, fusing adult contempoary pop/rock with soul and dance influences. Includes the first single from the album'Here We Go Again'.

12 reasons to buy this album!
Melanie's second album, Reason, is without a doubt one of the best releases of this year! I'll give you an insight review:
1) Here It Comes Again: The first single and definitely a catchy pop/rock song. 10/10
2) Reason: I find this personally one of the best songs on the album. It's only Melanie and a piano, a very beautiful ballad with deep lyrics. 10/10
3) Lose Myself In You: One of the not so very great tracks on this album. It's kinda like a mix between RnB and pop. 7/10
4) On The Horizon: One of my favorites, great guitar work and positive lyrics about the future of a life. Great song, is going to be the 2nd single from her album, they made a good choice. 10/10
5) Positively Somewhere: Goes about where Mel is in her life right now, great song with some cool guitar work. 10/10
6) Melt: My personal favorite from this album. Props to her co-writer Guy Chambers (ex-Robbie Williams), they did a great job on this epic track with guitars, piano, sounds...it all just fits! 10/10
7) Do I: A touchy ballad with some deep lyrics - a great song. 9/10
8) Soul Boy: Another ballad, written with a lot of soul and emotion - good song. 9/10
9) Water: A good song, where Mel experiments with different sounds - it sounds fabulous! 9/10
10) Home: A darker song from Melanie, with some cool guitarwork and experimenting with drums/percussion - certainly a good one. 9/10
11) Let's Love: A GREAT rocker!! Has a very catchy riff and sing-along-lyrics! 10/10
12) Yeh Yeh Yeh: The same effect as Let's Love but it's even more uplifting and has some great guitar and drumwork! 10/10
Conclusion: A great album to listen to and definitely better than her first album, which I found more "teeny bopper" - this is a very mature album, Melanie seems to have found her place :)
A MILLION REASONS!
After seeing all the positivity directed at this album i really had to throw my opinions into the ring! This album is such class after reviewing the first track 'Here it comes again' i had to review the rest!
Here it comes again - What a class track it means so much to me and i think it always will, a chours that grabs your attention and your heart strings as well! (10/10)
Reason - This wasnt really accepted very well i heard its kinda slow but has a real sneaky melody which was in my head for ages after a listen or two! (8/10)
Lose myself in you - Didnt like this to start of with but most definetly a grower! (8/10)
On the horizon - One of my fav tracks and the 2nd single of the album... pure class. (10/10)
Positively somewhere - This track suits her voice so well! Catchy and completly unasumming! (9/10)
Melt - WOW!! This is the best song after 'I turn to you' what a melody what a meaning... the best song on the album! (11/10)
Do i - Such a cool song, not her best. (6.5/10)
Soul boy - This track is the only song that Mel didnt co write i think thats why i dont think i like it.. but again shes on top form. Great voice wrong song. (6/10)
Water - I adore the last four tracks on the alb, this one in particular what a class little melody and fantastic production!!Her voice shines on this track! (9/10)
Home- This song is about her recent troubles, and its a great testiment thats there is light at the end of the tunnel (10/10)
Lets Love - Class, thats all i can say!! (10/10)
Yeh, Yeh, Yeh - THis is one of the best songs on the album and a brillant way to finish off a fabulous album, so slow to start of with then a kicking chours to shut up all her critics! (10/10)
Here She Comes Again
This album certainly feels like a second album. Although I don't think it is as good as northern star, it is still better than most stuff out there right now.
Here It Comes Again - This is a really good track, catchy and with a very good beat. The bridge is simply amazing. One of the better tracks on the album. (10/10)
Reason - This is a beautiful song. Although Melanie sounded amazing her voice doesn’t match the speed of the piano and hence making it sound very bland every now and again. (7.5/10)
Lose Myself In You - This song is decent, the chorus is very nice but it isn't as noticeable as other tracks on the album. (7/10)
On The Horizon - This has to be one of the best tracks on the album. Very catchy, love it just after one listen. Although the lyrics are kind of cheesy it is still good. (10/10)
Positively Somewhere - Another smash for the album. Very positive song about accepting yourself for just the way you are. Very well written. (10/10)
Melt - This has to be the highlight for the album. This track is a favorite among fans including me. It is so well written and so beautiful. Should be released as a single. (10/10)
Do I - A very sincere song. A feel good song. Puts a smile on your face every time you listen to it. (9/10)
Soul Boy - The cover song. I have to admit this song isn't as good as other stuff on the album and should've never made it to the album, but Melanie really proved her singing skills on this one. (6.5/10)
Water - Really great song! Kind of reminds me of a Bryan Adams track. The ending is just brilliant. Love it (10/10)
Home - The rockier track on the album. You just have to turn this up full blast to totally enjoy the song. Very good. (9/10)
Let's Love - Another rocky track. Very catchy and a very positive song. (10/10)
Yeh Yeh Yeh - The last track and the catchiest song on the album. Grabs your attention right away and this song will be stuck in your head days after. Very well done and a great finish to the album. (10/10)
This 12 track album is a must have. Great songs, easy on the ears, totally worth the money. Great job Melanie!
