what an event!
The 16th annual survivor series must surely rank as one of the best of all time,a list of matches that rival any event you care to mention in recent years and on top of that the first ever elimination chamber match,i will explain further on that later.
The event seemed unsettled on paper without the rock and stone cold who werent theer for various reasons but it went to show how strong the wwe stable was at this juncture, classy matches and an overpowering air of self belief ran through this like a stick of blackpool rock.
The opening match set the tone perfectly,an elimination tables match, not to be confused with the elimination chamber, this match pitted three versus three and the winners would be the team who could put all three of their rivals through a table, once through a table you were out and the remainder of the team fought on until there was only one team left. The teams were jeff hardy, bubba ray dudley and spike dudley vs three minute warning along with rico. The match was a blaze of fast moves, savage hidings and jaw dropping class, just a great match, blink and you would miss something was a description of this match, the outcome was class and the return of a former partner helped make this a classic.
if it is title matches that you seek then this event boasted four defences, first up was champ jamie noble against a very eager billy kidman who took it to the champ like a man possessed, again plenty of style and grit in this cruiserweight contest, very good yet again.
Next up was the womans title match, champ trish pitted her wits against a very forceful victoria and what made this womans match something worth watching was hardcore rules which means anything goes and while not utterly savage some blood was drawn and some good moves followed, trish met her equal this day and who wins?you wont hear from me.
A wwe championship match should probably last longer than the four minutes that passed between holder brock lesnar and the big show, plenty of hype leading up to this match then felt like a cheap solution to a feud that was going places up to that point. An act of betrayal forced the outcome of this and whether brocks ribs being bandaged meant this match couldnt last is something i am not too sure about, was that kayfabe or not?,this was the worst match of the night and that was a shanme after brocks glorious cage match with taker in the weeks prior to this.
A triple threat tag team match followed for the tag team titles and agai there is no dip in the quality of the athletes,6 wrestlers made up of kurt angle and chris benoit vs the champs edge and rey mysterio vs los guerreros made up of eddie and chavo. The rules dictated that once pinned your team was out until only one team remained and they would be the champs. This match was breathtaking, high octane, packed with moves of chaos ,great mat wrestling, filled with men of great ability and so much happened here that if i was too speak of it i would be accepting the role of writing a book, this was the match of the night, well up until the main event that is ,yes we finally reach the elimination chamber match.
Eric bischoff was at this point was general manager of raw takes the credit for the creation of this chamber,6 men enter the chamber at random draw, the first four to enter the ring are placed in a 'bulletproof' chamber and one at a time every five minutes enter the ring which is a mass of steel and certainly pain, blood flew in this match, always nice!
The final two men to enter the ring start the contest and as i stated every five minuted a random chamber is open and away they go,all 5 men must be pinned leaving one remaining, that man would be champ. The champ going into the match was triple h and the other 5 were the cream of the crop in booker T,rob van dam, shawn michaels, kane and chris jericho. This match lasted close to 40 minutes and was edge of the seat stuff, some moves were insane, some majestic, some went wrong, ability was again everywhere and this match flew by like an eagle on a plane, great stuff all round more or less,a 4.5 out of five event then.

Last great WWE PPV
This is without a doubt the last great WWE PPV since 2002 with exception of the Wrestlemanias. Looking at the card here and comparing it to today's PPVs shows just how far the WWE has declined in the past 5 years.
The opening tables match has an ending that is a big markout moment for any Team 3D fan. A match full of spots that they never dare to do today. Also includes Umaga when he was known as Jamal. This DVD also shows a time when the WWE actually had a proper cruiserweight division and great women's division. The three team tag match is superb, highlighting 6 of the greatest wrestlers of all time. The 2 world title matches are both high stakes with lots of story around them. The Lesnar match isn't particularly long but very entertaining and the original Chamber match is most definitely the best they have done.
