sorry event
Rebellion, much like insurrextion was a pay per view broadcast from england for the uk and Irish fans,it ran from 1999 and ended with this event, seemingly there wasnt much profit from these events, but this wasnt the best way to leave it in my opinion, this was a smackdown event that wasnt that great at all.
The event opened with matt hardy going up against booker T,both men performed to a high standard and this match worked in my opinion, they complemented each other perfectly and it was no shock that they entered into a feud that worked.
A mixed tag team match was up next as billy kidman and torrie wilson fought john cena and dawn marie,i found this match to be messy and a waste of time,no flow,no edge to it and most importantly,it was as sull as dishwater,a real wasted opportunity.
funaki fought crash holly next in a real low point of the night, one of the worst matches i have seen in a while.
The cruiserweight title was contested in an elimination match between jamie noble (the champion),rey mysterio and tajiri. This match was quality, all three men impressing and having their moment to shine,it was enjoyable, intense, fast and good, all the key ingredients were present.
Reverend D-Von and ron simmons went up against chuck and val venis in a tag match next that was straight out of a horror show,so bad that i will delete this from my mind,starting.....now!
A kiss my axs match was up next between rikeshi and albert,oh dear lord no,terrible.
The WWE tag team championship was up next as the champs, kurt angle and chrios benoit went up against los guererros, this match was brilliant, everything you could want and maybe more,i found it to be engaging and high in quality with four men who blended as well as strawberries and cream.
The WWE Championship was up next,it was a handicap title match as the champ brock lesnar paired with his manager paul heyman against edge. This match wasnt all great and what was the point of paul heyman being there,he did nothing,at times the match grew in stature and we had a real cracker on our hands and they heyman would crawl about and ruin the flow if im honest, not a great idea on paper and it didnt lend itself well in the flesh,a good match but could have been better,1.5 stars.
WWE Rebellion 2002 DVD Review
I actually saw this PPV live in Manchester sitting in the 2nd row at ringside, and I can honestly say, this event was hot! Great line of matches including cruiserweight action between Rey Mysterio, Tajiri and the champion Jamie Noble. Also a fantastic Tag Title match between Angle/Benoit and Los Guerreros. The event was concluded by the first ever match between Brock Lesnar, the WWE champion, and Edge. Would certainly recommend this one as it is certainly the best PPV WWE have put on in the UK since Summerslam 1992 in Wembley
