Customer Reviews
Brilliant!
this album is DEFINATLY worth buying it has tons of new chart tracks like CHRISTINA AGUILERA's DIRRTY and TONI BRAXTON's HIT THE FREEWAY which are both of my faves on the album.
But the great thing about the very best of... albums are that they contain classic slices of r+b too for example KRIS KROSS's JUMP which is a spin off from the "house of pain" classic which is fab!
the tracks on the album r all mixed into each other so when u listen to them it seems like ur listenin to a long remix of all the songs which is great cos u dont get the long bits at the ends of songs where it just repeats the chorus till fade out I HATE THAT!!!
The only bad thing on the album is that if u already have sum of the other very best of r+b albums then u mite get repeat songs on here for example BLUE's FLY BY which if u ask me seem a little out of place on this album and i think should be kept to pop compilations. NO OFFENCE BLUE!
R & B summer 2003
excellent chillin album in the car , for those long summer nights spent cruising !!!!!
Flava's old, new, borrowed and Blue - too!
"The UK's biggest R&B album series" returns with its 7th set, mixed yet again by Kiss FM's The Firin' Squad, which offers some more bangin' up-front and in-yer-face tunes together with some laid-back grooves from across the years that more than justify the album's title.
The oldies here include Bell Biv Defoe from 1990 (the oldest tune here), Wolverhampton's finest, Beverley Knight from an Old School 1995, Usher's No. 1 from 1998 and DJ Jazzy Jeff with some Hollywood superstar from some old TV show before he discovered that Black was his favourite colour.
The new music includes Christina with THE R&B dance track of 2003 which is nicely mixed into the current hit from those foxy Ladees from London, a couple from Craig David and one of my current faves from Keith Sweat.
The samples, borrowings or reworkings include Mario's current hit, Mary J. with a Mary Jane Girls' classic and Gwen Dickey reprising her Rose Royce smash with Jay-Z along for the ride.
Oh, and there's a smash from some "boyband" who can prove they can fly by as a genuine R&B act and cut it in purely "pop" circles, too.
To choose my own personal favourites, given the range of ages and (sub-)styles of the music, would be difficult, but if pressed I'd go for the R.Kelly/Wayne Marshall seque, which is almost too sensual for words, and the aforementioned Ms. Blige. However, there most certainly is something for everyone here, truly a case of "What's your flava?", indeed.
Just listen to the vibes and enjoy!
