Famous for her bestselling book Rosemary Conley's Complete Hip and Thigh Diet and many other exercise and diet tapes, Rosemary Conley is such an established name in the fitness business that you know that any video from her won't be faddy, but based on solid research that definitely works. There are no fancy clothes and visual tricks here, and the only "prop" you'll need is a solid dining chair for the abdominal section.
We are taken straight into the exercise studio where Conley acts as our instructor, describing the moves in a calm, clear voice. The exercises that promise to burn up our surplus flab are divided into five 10-minute sessions, followed by body conditioning and a cool-down. She recommends doing one session each day, with a day off every four days, so as not to overdo things. The idea is to step up our level of fitness gradually, until we can fit the sessions together into one mammoth workout. The people accompanying Conley on the video have all successfully lost weight with her programme. Conley reminds us of this at carefully spaced intervals--"Hayley lost five and a half stone"--to give us a goal and keep us at it. We are instructed to keep our eyes on the individual whose exercise level best suits our own. So we can leap along with Annette, or march with Debbie.
Conley packs many different movements into each session, so you really do feel as if you're working the whole of your body. But be warned, some moves are more difficult than they look, so make sure you clear a big enough space in the living room, and put breakables and the dog out of harm's way! The menu planner at the end is introduced with sensible information and deliciously piled plates, reminding us that, though we may be on a diet, we certainly don't need to starve. --Lorna Read

Same old moves
The dvd is fine, but the moves are slightly boring after a while,quite repetitive and dated. On the good side, she explains clearly where you are going next so you don't get lost.

I bought this DVD after gaining 6 stone due to undetected gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. I was devastated at the way I looked after giving birth, and realizing I had to lose so much weight.
I found Rosemary's videos and decided to buy them based on the reviews.
I AM SO GLAD I DID!
I started working out in early May, and have already lost 1 and 1/2 stone!
My body is losing inches and shaping up dramatically also!
I started with the five day fat burner and was doing "the mega workout" within 2 weeks, I have also been enjoying her 7 day slim down and her salsacize video too! Her videos work!
Please if you are serious about starting to get fit, start with her.
I have quickly become a BIG fan of Rosemary!
high heart rate, but not long enough
This video is 5 x 10 minute workouts that you can do as one workout if you want (with warming up and cooling down in each; if you're doing the whole thing together you follow an 'advanced' woman in the background who isn't doing the stretching, to keep your heart rate up). The 10 minutes was warming up (a bit too long for me), the next 10 was supposed to be aerobic but only raised my heart rate to about 130bpm, too low for me. The next 10 minutes was great - my heart rate was right up there in the 150's, but this is nowhere near enough aerobic exercise for me for one workout. Then she starts cooling down and does 20 minutes of toning, which is too light to make much difference in my opinion. Then she spends 10 minutes stretching?! In sum, 10 minutes of great aerobics and 20 minutes of light toning. You could always keep repeating the 10 minutes of good aerobics I suppose - but I'd get bored very quickly. The moves are boring and the same as Rosemary Connely always does really.
