Average customer review:Product Description
This was the album after the famous Jon Landau statement came to pass, and although there are still many references to cars and girls it is a blistering album. It has a similar energy that was later to be found on The River. He states in 'Something In The Night', 'soon as you've got something they send someone to try and take it away'. He repeated the themes again and again, and we loved it; maybe his fall from grace is because we ultimately can get by with just one song about cars and girls.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
The Roy Orbison drama, the Wall of Sound and the soul energy of Born to Run are still present here but there's a darkness now, too, and it's more than around the edges. The stories have more at risk, for one thing, a definite sense of the pain that can accompany the hardest choices. These real-world consequences are felt most strikingly in Bruce Springsteen's newly prominent guitar--his solos are ugly and twisted but he sounds all the stronger for it. Recorded for everyone who has "a notion ... it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive", Darkness on the Edge of Town might just be Springsteen's greatest achievement. --David Cantwell
Customer Reviews
The best Bruce Springsteen album I own
I bought this album because I already loved the 'Badlands' and I went to the recent London Emirates Stadium gig, where he played some other tracks from this album.
I own Nebraska, Born to Run, Born in the USA and the recent Magic and I love them all, but this surpasses them in my opion. A truly awesome album, every song is fantastic.
DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN
I have been a Springsteen fan since Johnny Walker played
Born To Run on his lunch time show for Radio 1.
Bought the lp Born to Run, was hooked then invested in the two albums before,The Wild being the best of the two
althought Greeting's still grows on you even more every time you hear it. Darkness is just one word "GLOWING"
from start to finish. This album has everthing, rock, cars and girls all told by one of the best story tellers of our time Mr.Bruce Springsteen. One point if you have never heard of this album and you would like a treat, then invest
in one of the best album's very recorded.
Bruce"s 2nd greatest album
This album was the folow up to his breakthrough album Born To Run,and was the middle part of the trilogy of BTR,Darkness and The River.Every song has classic stamped all over it.Sounds as good now as it did nearly 30 years ago.Only Born To Run is a greater Bruce album.A real 5 star CD.
