SMOOTH SOUL
This is a great soul collection. This girl and two guys (from Peckham, South London) really made some classic club hits which bring back great memories of the 1980's. If you missed them back then or were born a bit later, then catch up by buying this collection. It contains all their hits including Don't Be A Fool, Slow Down, Hanging On a String, Choose Me and Golden Years (a David Bowie remake!) This is a well produced classic soul album that still sounds really fresh today and can still rock the dancefloor! Check it out!!
A bit lopsided
The trouble here is that this collection very much runs the risk of boiling down to Hangin' on a String and 14 fillers.
Anyone who was alive and had ears in the 80s can't have failed to be seduced by that outstanding song, but the problem seems to have been scaling those heights again. Magic Touch, Tell Me What You Want and especially Love's Got Me are decent enough, but then the inclusion of yet another Golden Years cover and a track so similar to Hangin' on a String that they should sue themselves for plagiarism suggest a problem living up to that one massive hit.
Finally, despite all the filler, there is no room on here for A Little Spice, the excellent b-side to Hangin' on a String. I know it's not technically a hit, but it deserves its place on here a lot more than some of these tracks.
Cd bought to my sister..
As I haven't listened to it myself, I cannot rate this product more than saying that my sister loves it. Big time! It's become one of her definate favorites from now on.
