Call of Duty is an intense first-person action game that allows players to experience the movie-like intensity and gripping combat of World War II as never before--through the eyes of ordinary soldiers, fighting as part of a squad through the chaos of battle.
Developed by Infinity Ward, which is comprised of over 20 individuals who developed Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, including all the production leads, Call of Duty delivers the gritty realism and cinematic intensity of WWII's most epic battlefield moments--from the perspective of citizen soldiers and unsung heroes representing an alliance of countries, who together helped shape the course of modern history. Throughout the game's 24 missions, players will be part of a squad, who bond together to take on enemy forces and achieve mission objectives through pivotal WWII battles and authentic military campaigns.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
The latest PC first-person shooter to set itself among the horrors of World War II, Call of Duty spares little in its depiction of events. There are stray bullets, fallen comrades and some major gun battles, but also a top quality game.
That's unsurprising, since Call of Duty was put together by a good chunk of the team behind the superb Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and they've pulled plenty more tricks from their sleeves this time around. There are some genuinely terrific levels, at times favouring the all-guns blazing approach, at times rewarding a more precise build up. Either way, it's a hefty yet immensely rewarding challenge.
What's key though is how well it all plays--even more so if you take the game online. Too many major games aren't lasting long enough, yet with Call of Duty, there's a good chance you'll be playing it six months down the line. It's supremely addictive, with some of the finest gameplay of recent times sitting at its heart. With top-notch AI, strong graphics, significant single-player challenge and immersive play, "Call of Duty" raises the bar a good few notches. --Simon Brew

There's not much else to say that hasn't already been said
Pros:
The best WWII shooter there is - including COD2, which has been robbed of intensity and the need to stay alive by an odd 'healing' system and too frequent autosaves. Also, COD was not in the end trumped by MOH Pacific Assault where I found that perfectly placed sniper shots did nothing more than annoy the enemy. That's fine for the top trigens in Far Cry but not in a realistic shooter. MOH PA was a real let down.
So COD is the best, just about everyone agrees although I take the controversial view that it is better than COD2 as well.
Cons:
Too short...boo-hoo...sob-sob... At least the expansion pack offered more of the same though.

This game is fantastic. The sqaud play is fantastic. Teammates take cover, fire, and charge at the enemy, instead of hiding behind a wall ans staying there. Here are my ratings.
Graphics: 10/10 Superb. Guns are fantastic, people are excellent.
Sound: 10/10 Guns, shouts, whizz, and richochets. All at once!
Gameplay: 10/10 Take cover, charge and tem play.
Lifespan: 10/10 If you play properly on hard, should take a while.
ONE OF THE BEST FPS EVER!!!!!!!!!
When i got Call of Duty and then played it was excellent, bloody brilliant! The graphics are very good and the gameplay is good as well. You be the Americans first and then the British and then the Russians you do missions for all 3 of the allied sides. Good choices of weapons for all sides and the blood is good as well.
Some parts of the game quite hard such as when you are the Russians you have to charge up to Stalingrad and retake the city but once you've done that loads of times it becomes very easy but you can never get sick of playing this game, it's also very addictive. THIS IS A MUST GET!!!!!!!!!!!!
