Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
This is tragicomedy of the highest Loser order. Drunk Enough to Dance, the second album from Texan pop punks Bowling for Soup, rips through the kind of chugging riffs and high-school trauma that no US teen movie should be without.

Led by former pet-shop owner Jaret Von Erich, the quartet here deliver 17 speedy doses of wise-cracking brat-pop while Von Erich picks over his hapless love life. As in the top-10 single "Girl All the Bad Guys Want"--a frustration-venting pogo-along about a hot rock-chick with a nose ring--the objects of his affection are invariably out of his league. This prompts a deluge of droll wallowing along the lines of this, in "Don't Wanna Rock": "She makes me want to be a homosexual / maybe then I'd be her best friend and see her naked once in a while." Even when he does get the girl of his dreams, in true screw-up style there are minor hiccups, as he whines regretfully on the lovelorn belter "Emily": "I got drunk / had sex with all your friends / you told me I should never call your house again."

Self-conscious, self-deprecating, and heavy on the self-pity, with big choruses, killer lines and a persecution complex to match, slacker rock doesn't come much better than this. --Dan Gennoe

Customer Reviews

Bowling for soup just gets better and better...5
From the 1st track all the way through to end this is top quality stuff from BFS. If u r really hooked on "Girl all the bad guys want" Then u should really get this album its full of great pop/punk songs. For me the stand out tracks on this album are: Emily, girl all the bad guys want,on and on about you, where to begin and self centered all songs worthy of being released as singles in my opinion. My final thoughts on this album are if u like blink 182 and greenday then this is perfect for you.
plus at the very end of this album you get to hear an acoustic version of Belgium.

A definate improvement on the very good "lets do it for johnny"
if u got the first album then u definatley need to get this!!!

Bowled over again5
They're back with their third album and I have to say this is their best so far. Lets do it for Johnny was 13 tracks of pure brilliance and this has now got catchier tunes, deeper lyrics and cunning lay out of songs. All 16 tracks and the limited edition version of "World Falling apart" is stunning as well as the solo version of old favourite "Belgium". Comedy in Running from your dad, tears in "cold shower tuesday" and of course "Girls all the bad guys want". If you're a fan of new wave punk then my friends Bowling For Soup are for you, funny, witty, moving and downright brilliant. Go get it.

The best album I've bought all year5
Bowling For soup's new album is without a doubt the best album I have bought all year. I love every single song on it, but my favourites are Surf Colarado and Cold Shower Tuesdays. It is quite simply totally addcitive and since I bought it it has never been out of my CD player. Their style of music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but is unique, catchy and put plainly rocks! I have only recently been introduced to Bowling For Soup and wasn't sure if I'd like the entire album, but now I can't wait to buy some of their earlier stuff, and look forward to hearing more from them. My advice to you is buy it now, play it loud, and sing along.
