Synopsis
ULTIMATE YOGALATES does exactly what it says on the tin, i.e. presents a fusion of the disciplines of yoga and pilates in a unified workout. Louise Solomon presents the 85-minute programme from Byron Bay, and the 60 minute session is split into two main sections, 20 minutes and 40 minutes.

Highly Recommended
This really is Ultimate! The workout is challenging and allows you to push yourself harder or choose the beginner option but even as a beginner you will be working really hard. You may think Yogalates is just a series of poses and positions but then you realise your butt muscles are killing you and your stomach looks a lot more toned! I would recommend this dvd, Like all Louise Soloman's, if you like a class atmosphere to your workout, are annoyed by stupid dance music in the background and just want something that will stay interesting for longer. Since this is quite a tough work out to do for three days a week I tend to alternate it with one of the other Yogalates DVDs.
Ultimate Yogalates = Ultimate Challenge
I just recently bought this DVD and I have done it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Louise has put together three workouts and I found that I was surprised when the end of each session happened. I had no idea how long I had been working and was impressed by how time just seems to fly when you do these sessions. There are three sessions and each one is 20 minutes long and then a relaxation at the end. This is definitely a challenge and on the yogalates.com.au website, this program as listed as being 'the strongest workout yet but still has modifications for the beginner', now this was released in 2003, and I would have to say that having done each and every program, this one was definitely the one that gave me the biggest challenge the first time I did it. With practice, like anything else, it does get easier to do. You will see results in your efforts each time you do this program.
Enjoyable, achievable and gives results
I started with another Louise Solomon DVD, Yogalates for Weight Loss, but I am enjoying this one more as it is more challenging. It is longer but is broken into 3 manageable sections - the first is predominantly abs and core, second tones upper and lower body and the last is a series of yoga stances that tones the whole body but has an emphasis on stretching. There is also a relaxation section, an introduction to the principles of yogalates and a small section on nutrition. I enjoy Solomon's approach to this DVD. I don't mind the lack of music or the background - about 80% of the time I am looking straight ahead or at my shins/the ground/the ceiling (depending on the pose) so who cares about the scenery? I would recommend it highly if your aim is fitness, rather than a totally relaxing experience, although at the end I do feel refreshed.
