Putting the record straight
.
I went to the concert in Barcelona, and it was fantastic, he didn't perform the Devil in a Blue Dress medley at this concert as he did at some of the other venues, but I'm hoping it will be on the disc as an extra.
No one in the past thirty years of music sings with the heart of Springsteen, and his live shows are legendary, this in particular captures Bruce in a playful mood with his audience, trying to make them have almost as much fun as he was. If you're a Springsteen fan, you'll buy this anyway, but to those who haven't seen a Springsteen show, buy it, and you'll be first in the queue next time he tours.
Finally, note to Robbie Williams, this is how a REAL rock star performs.....
It's Boss Time
Having been to 5 of Springsteen's shows, I think "Live In Barcelona" captures the feeling of a Bruce show like no other. Because it's an entire show, it gives you a feeling for how he finishes one song and dives right into another for three hours. To compare it to "Live in NYC," the filming is infintely better with many different angles from all sides of the stage, as well as shots from the audience's perspective. Also, the Band simply sounds better, and one can tell that they worked very hard to produce the best music out there today. For me, watching songs like Born in the USA, Night, and Incident on 57th Street brought back memories of shows that I've seen: a testament to the fact that "Live in Barcelona" is the epitome of a Bruce Springsteen show.
Bruce is great, sound is awfull
Totally agree with previous reviews. I was at that concert, it was unforgettable, so I was very much looking forward to having it at home. However, the sound is disgraceful. Even having a decent home cinema, the vocals are almost unhearable. There is no separation of trebels and bass tracks. Only worthy is the stereo track, and is better hear it on the TV. I do not understand how the audio mix engineers dare to release such poor sound quality.
As I am only reviewing the DVD, 3 stars good enough, and only useful to reminding me that night, that's all.
