Customer Reviews

a disappointment 2
September 2003 and the RAW brand got its chance to shine, following on from a good summerslam and keeping the crowds entertained was the object but in truth this event isnt that good, well,to put it another way it isnt consistent enough.
The event opened with a handicap tables match for the world tag team championship, the dudley boyz going up against rob conway and la resistance, who were the champions at this time. This match was watchable and decent but nothing more than that,it was a bit rough and ready and didnt flow that well, but i have seen worse and there was certainly some good table action.
Scott steiner went up against test next and the winner got stacey keibler as their property,a very silly idea indeed, anyway, this match was poor which we all expected, these men had fought before and stank the place out and here we went again and the same thing happened, very far from good.
Next up was the first real signs of quality, shawn michaels going one on one with the legend killer randy orton, these men started brightly and the match was energetic, skillful and a real pleasure to watch but then it went on a bit and outlived itself and got tedious so too much of a good thing is indeed too much, they were given close to 20 minutes match time when 12 or 13 would have made for a real classic perhaps, sound ending though.
A ladies tag match was up next as trish and lita went up against gail kim and molly holly, this match was dull and could have been better.
Next up was a last man standing match that was superb and more than likely the match of the night, shane mcmahon going up against kane, this feud was enjoyable while it lasted and on this night they gave all and some may argue that they gave too much, this was brutal, twisted, vicious and entertaining, yes i know that sounds like a contradiction,a sublime, chilling ending meant that this match wont leave the confines of my memory for a long time yet, great and just what the event needed but this was match five so opportunity wasted.
A triple threat match was up next for the intercontiental match, teh champion christian was up against chris jericho and rob van dam, this match looked good on paper and started well and the double teaming of jericho and christian on rvd was enjoyable as they tried to outdo the other but then the weirdest thing happened, the pace of the match died down to almost a crawl,i cant work out what happened,it started to lack vitality or imagination and when you have three men of that calibre involved then thats unforgivable, even the commentary team mentioned something to that effect, very odd,a poor match and i certainly expected more.
Al snow and the coach went up against jim ross and jerry lawler, this meant there is no commentating on this match, and the winner got to commentate on the following nights raw, this was rotten,oh my word, watching wrestling without commentary is not a good thing and this match had a stupid stipulation,a terrible atmosphere and did the event which was by now well on the way to being terrible no favours.
Thankfully we had the main event next for the world heavyweight championship, the champion triple H went up against Goldberg who enjoyed a good run prior to this, the rules were that if goldberg didnt win that he would have to leave the WWE so that made for an interesting concept, the match was great,it really was, momentum shifting, close calls and frantic moments of brilliance,a very fitting main event but what came before doesnt register much quality, the last man standing match and maybe the tables match were consistent enough, the orton, michaels match started well,oh dear,2 stars again.

RAW CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS3
This wasn't a bad PPV but raw could do a bit better in presenting PPV's like this in my opinion.

FIRST MATCH- DUDLEY BOYS VS. LA RESISTANCE & ROB CONWAY IN A 2-3 HANDICAP TAG TEAM TABLES MATCH FOR THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP {It was supposed to be a 6-man tables match with Spike Dudley involved, but he was seriously injured therefore it is a handicap match}. Not a bad opener for Unfrogiven. Dudley Boys overcome the odds & are able to slam all three members of La Resistance to win the match & become new World Tag Team Champions. 4/10

SECOND MATCH- TEST VS. SCOTT STEINER WINNER GETS STACY'S MANAGERAL SERVICES These matches between Test & Steiner for Stacy's Manageral Services are seriously just lame. Test wins after Stacy goes to nail him with a chair but accidentally nails Steiner with the chair. Therefore resulting a 3 count cover by Test as he gets Manageral Services from Stacy much to her shock & disbelief. 2/10

THIRD MATCH- KANE VS. SHANE MCMAHON IN A LAST MAN STANDING MATCH This match was supposed to be brutal & probably even violent, but to my surprise it wasn't. It was still horrible though, Kane is down & Shane goes right on top of the stage & goes for a leg drop slam from the top but Kane moves as Shane McMahon crashes down through what looks like the stage arena. Shane is down for the 10 count resulting Kane the winner of this match. After the match paramedics come & put Shane in a stretcher & take him to a nearby hospital as Shane is seriously hurt. 4/10

FOURTH MATCH- LITA & TRISH STRATUS VS. MOLLY HOLLY & GAIL KIM This was seriously a good tag team Women's match. You don't see most tag team Diva matches on PPV. This one was really good much to my surprise as I was entertained. Great moves by Trish as Lita gets a Moonsault on Molly Holly for the win. 5/10

FIFTH MATCH- RANDY ORTON W/ RIC FLAIR VS. SHAWN MICHAELS This was also a very good match. Orton & Michaels seriously can put on a very great match together. While the referee can't see, Flair gives Orton brass knuckles who he uses on Michaels to get the win against the Showstopper. 5/10

SIXTH MATCH- ROB VAN DAM VS. CHRIS JERICHO VS. Christian IN A TRIPLE-THREAT MATCH FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP This is by far the best match of the night. Great athletic moves & kicks by RVD as he is the man of this match. Christian uses his IC title belt & nails RVD with it, then gets a roll-up on him for the win to retain his WWE IC title. 5/10

SEVENTH MATCH- JERRY 'THE KING' LAWLER & JIM ROSS VS. AL SNOW & JONATHAN COACHMAN WINNERS GET TO COMMENTATE RAW {There are no commentators for this match, therefore you can hear the crowd reaction very well during this match}. This is a boring tag team match, also a waste of time, why is it on the PPV & not on Raw. Jim Ross is bad at wrestling & he is also bad at commentating. Jericho interferes during the match & nails an Enzeguiri on JR & Lawler, Al Snow covers Jim Ross for the victory as Coach & Al Snow are the commentators of Raw. 2/10

EIGHT MATCH- GOLDBERG VS. TRIPLE H FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP IF GOLDBERG LOSES HE HAS TO RETIRE & LEAVE WWE IF TRIPLE H LOSES BY DQ OR COUNTOUT, THE TITLE THEN CAN CHANGE HANDS GOLDBERG & TRIPLE H CAN ONLY BEAT EACH OTHER BY PINFALL OR SUBMISSION Pretty boring match, & as it it the mainevent. It could of been at least a bit better. Goldberg wins after a Spear followed by a Jackhammer as Goldberg has became the new World Heavyweight Champion & therefore does not have to retire & leave WWE. 3/10

Even though ECW and Raw sre my favorite brands, Raw can seriously do better than this, this wasn't really that much of a good PPV. Although some of the matches were really good.

Not a Bad PPV4
World Tag Team Title Handicap Tables Match
The Dudley Boyz vs La Resistance (Sylvian Grenier and Renee Dupree) and Rob Conway 6/10
This was a decent tag team event that the crowd really enjoyed

Winner Gets The Services of Stacy Kiebler. If Steiner Loses, Test Gets Services of Steiner
Test vs Scott Steiner 4/10
Another match from these two awful wrestlers, the only thing good about this match the appearance of the gorgeous Stacy Kiebler

Legend vs Legend Killer Match
Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton 8/10
HBK is just great and Randy Orton is going to be great

Molly Holly and Gail Kim vs Trish Stratus and Lita 4/10
This was your typical women's tag match that you can see on a episode of Raw

Last Man Standing Match
Kane vs Shane McMahon 10/10
Match of the night and even though the wrong person won the ending was horrific

Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Match
Christian vs Chris Jericho vs Rob Van Dam 7/10
Some good action from these superstar as they put their skills to good use

Winners get to announce RAW
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler vs Jonathan Coachman and Al Snow 1/10
This was simply appalling and should have been scrapped altogether as a match and as a storyline

World Heavyweight Title Match
Triple H vs Goldberg 8/10
A good title match to end the match but it was nothing to spectacular

All in all Unforgiven was a good PPV but was not that memorable
