Synopsis
This collector's box set includes the sci-fi action thrillers PREDATOR and PREDATOR 2.
PREDATOR is set in the remote jungle of a Central American country, where an elite group of commandos led by Major Dutch Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), embarks on a CIA mission to clear out a guerrilla stronghold and rescue the remaining hostages. However, the hunters become the hunted when a highly intelligent, otherwordly being slowly and methodically starts killing off members of Dutch's team. Possessing a chameleonlike camouflaging ability and a deadly alien arsenal, the creature tracks down the soldiers one by one. Director John McTiernan's film is a thrilling high-action flick, filled with great one-liners (courtesy of Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and the rest of the cast) and excellent special effects.
In PREDATOR 2, the fierce hunter from another world is back--this time seeking prey in the gang-ruled and ravaged city of Los Angeles, 1997. A detective (Danny Glover) and his police force set out to capture this brutal murderer from beyond, ignoring the warnings from a mysterious government agent to stay away.

Couple of great movies.4
Predator is unsurpassable! An amazing film, building up tension and suspense, looking through the eyes of an unknown killer. Predator 2 does also have its benefits in as much that it includes more details of the species but I believe there is less focus on the predators themselves and more on the drug war. There are slight errors also contradictions of the predators abilities between 1 and 2 but overall can't complain to much. Two great films!

What a couple of Corkers!!5
If you like plenty of action, gore, violence and creatures then you just cannot fault these movies.
Predator alone is a great film blending espionage, action, gore, horror and suspense in a full on man vs alien encounter. Yeah, there isn't really a big story but would you really want one. You get all the action you can handle and you really start to feel for Arnie when he just can't get rid of the thing.
Predator 2 was very under-rated and provides a great alternative in surroundings from the jungle to the big city. This is also full or gore, action and suspense and is also a worthy edition to any DVD stack in your front room.
Definately not for the squemish, to get these two films in a bundle pack is worth every penny and I demand that you invest in this DVD very quickly.
Those looking for drama, romance or a bit of a thriller, stay well away, you won't find that here.

Two Great Movies....but....4
I'm not convinced that these two movies (despite being parts 1 and 2 of the same franchise) really go together well in a box set. Not to put you off, these are two very good movies, but they are very very different.

The original 'Predator' boasts an all-star cast including of course big Arnie, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, Jimmy Snuka and Bill Duke. They all give excellent performances in their respective characters and make the film a joy to watch. The movie itself is well staged in a war-filled rainforest, with great action scenes, breathtaking weaponry and a 'bad guy' to end all bad-guys!!! The Predator is great......we see through his heat-seaking eyes but do not see him until near the end of the film. This is what makes Predator great....the anticipation, the uneasiness, the tension, the awe and the chilling sensations. The Suspense kills you (if the Pred doesn't get you first)......

Predator 2 falls short of reaching the level of its predecessor. It is a good movie and there is a good performance delivered by Danny Glover.....but it does not chill the audience. We see the Predator and there is nothing scary about it. This film could have been great but it is more of a chase movie, unlike the original which is most definitely a 'hunt' vs 'hunt' siuation.

The problems with Predator 2 (including a lack-lustre plot)cost it a star, and to be honest I am surprised that they are releasing this box set....but none the less, worth owning.
